These three football fans are looking forward to their first Darlington game next week after snapping up bargain match tickets for the Northern Echo Arena.

Darlington have slashed their prices for next Tuesday night’s game against Tamworth, with all tickets reduced to just £5.

The Quakers are trying to tempt stay-away fans to return to the Arena with the cut-price offer.

And 19-year-old Callum Crooks was the first to snap up three tickets for the game, for his brother Connor, 13, and his grandfather, for what will be their first visit to the Arena.

“We’re just local football fans but it’s too good an opportunity to turn down,” said student Callum, from Bishop Auckland.

“We like to watch all games of football and I’ve been to a few Boro and Sunderland games with my granddad, we just like to watch football.

“But it’ll be Connor’s first live match so we’re all looking forward to it.”

Retired chemical plant worker Les, 65, also from Bishop, used to go to games at Feethams but has never been to an Arena match..

“It’s a beautiful stadium,” he said. “We’ve had a little tour and it’s fantastic, very impressive. We’re all looking forward to the game.

“It’s a great offer by the club. Hopefully more people like us will take the offer up and we’ll see a good crowd for the game.”

Darlington chairman Raj Singh is trying to encourage old and potentially new supporters to the Arena as the Quakers look to boost their home attendances.

“Dropping the Tamworth tickets to £5 is a bold statement,” he said.

“It would be fantastic to see a big crowd at the Arena, generating an atmosphere and really getting behind the team.”

The £5 match ticket offer is more than 70% less than the normal £18 match ticket for games at the Arena.

The Quakers are also trying to encourage families back to the Arena for the Crawley Town game next Saturday (November 13) with a special one-off family ticket price of just £25 (two adults and two children) to coincide with a family day, in partnership with the Supporters Club, which will include children’s competitions, a fancy dress parade and a fun ride.

The £5 Tamworth ticket applies to all supporters with no concessions, and are available from the club’s ticket office now, or call 01325 387007

Let's hope we get a good performance and result and perhaps we might hang on to a few people like this.
