Tough one this year as I don’t think anyone has done really well all the way through the season. I’d go with Salkeld as he was probably one of the better players during the Gowling era and has really stepped up in the last couple of months with some important goals.

Young player - Young
Signing - Main
Improved - Lees
Consistent - Salkeld

Bet Kallum Grffiths never thought he'd be most improved at 35.

To be honest, I didn't realise he was that old! Most improved in that he has made the right back spot his own and rarely misses any games now.

Come on what about "Best Management Team" of the season. There are three entries only so it could be a close call!

Player of the season: Cedric Main. I know he's not been here long but he is everything we were missing and he's been
crucial in this (fingers crossed) great escape.

Best young player of the season (u23): Matty Young

Best signing: Cedric Main

Most improved: Toby Lees

Mr consistent: Will Hatfield

Most improved. Does that mean used to be crap but is now a bit better ?
Not sure how Lees wins the category as he is in his first season with us. So unless you were regularly watching Blyth last season, how would you know he has improved ?

For me he’s improved drastically from his performances prior to Watson’s arrival.

Most improved from the beginning of the season to now. Why would I be taking into account performances at a previous club?

Because I thought the most improved player of the season award, by its very definition, would have to go to a player who was here last season, so you could compare them to last season. What you are actually saying is, he was crap earlier in the season and is now playing much better. I don’t really think that is an award that any self respecting player would want to win anyway.

Suppose you can measure it from his first 23 games to his last 23 games.

Or performances in a previous season, for that matter?

If we stay up 2 people should get an award that would be Steve and Terry most of the players have been here all season and should have played like they are now but have not

Suppose that is the difference at our level. All player are at a similar level just how they are coached and set up. The squad isn’t much different to the start of the season and we currently have playoff form with a decent manager in.

Yes but difficult when Gowling was trying to build a squad full of kids when trying to offload many of his experienced players.

The biggest mistake people can make is to use overall team performance as a barometer for individual player quality.

The same players labelled "pea-hearted", "shite", "not trying", when we were not getting results (Aug - Jan) are now performing under Watson.

The quality in most of our players was always there. These players were never the things they were labelled at the time. They were badly let down by certain managerial & recruitment decisions.

Here’s one specially for you 97

Best Manager ?
Worst Manager ?
Worst signing made my worst manager ?
Best signing by worst Manager ?
Player who looked completely lost but has improved once someone who knows what they’re doing has guided them ?

How about "best manager we could've had"?
