Far too many incomings for my liking. Getting 09/10 vibes from this season so far.
Another kid who has had very little football experience. This isn’t going to get us out of this hole.
Gowling is taking a massive gamble with all these short term loans and allowing some decent, experienced, contracted players to leave the club.Really hope the guy knows what he is doing but time will tell.

⬆️ Per game both goalies have let in virtually the same this season. Not that it matters as too many other factors are at play.

Taylor - 21 in 11.
Robson 8 in 4
Great reply and TT has been poor for a while in terms of he does not command his box, yes he is decent shop stopper but 2009s statement that he has been our best keeper for years is way off IMO

Before you fire back 2009 I just want to that add we are all entitled to our opinions but also entitled to disagree
If you look at the goals conceded though, Robson has let in far softer goals - Tamworth away being the prime example.

Of the permanent goalkeepers that we've had, Taylor is streets ahead of Elliot, Saltmer, Maddison & Connell.

You'd have to go back over four and a half years to find our last good goalkeeper albeit on loan - Jake Turner that is, and then Aynsley Pears before that.

Melvin Minter was also good I thought.

what I don’t get is (and this is not aimed at you 2009) Gowling has been left with a shite squad IMO, so he has to try and bring in players and with no funds it’s gona be loan players, surely people can understand this, I’m shocked by all the the negativity, should we immediately sack him then lads???

I think Gowling knows what he is doing (or knows what he wants to do at least) but is realising he doesn't have the players to do it. Therefore he wants to change the players to fit his system rather than the other way around. Might work, but seems a big task.

By all accounts he had a huge turnover of players at Hereford too, which suggests its difficult to find players at this level who can play the way he wants, especially with two training sessions a week.

At the moment I'd say its 50/50 whether Gowling makes it to Christmas.

I really hope the board did as much analysis on Gowling as seemed to have done on us.

A load of kids and one month loans will not be able to learn a complicated system. And if they do, the system does not allow us to score. We need to go to a basic, structured system with two strikers and wingers.

No, because his underlying data whilst manager of Hereford is alarming.

Got to the game late on Tuesday a little late, so I’m not sure if TT was there, but he certainly hasn’t been around for the home games, that’s where the speculation starts, other out field players turn up even when not picked
He took part in the pre-match warm up so yes he was there. He was also present for the Kings Lynn game.
Sounds very much like he's not been frozen out, then. Just out of favoour, which is totally normal and doesn't warrant all of the drama that some people are trying to stir up.
I mean this with the greatest of respect, but literally earlier on in this thread you suggested Taylor thought he was "untouchable", and "that isn't the type of personality we want around the place".

As I said before, I didn't suggest that, because I've already stated numerous times that there's no evidence that suggests he's been frozen out or has indeed spat his dummy out.

I said "if" that's what has happened, then it might suggest that to be the case.

So with the greatest respect, could you stop trying to pick apart every detail of what everyone else says? Its tiresome.

You can’t go, “this doesn’t warrant all the drama”, just after saying, “maybe he thought he was untouchable, we don’t want personalities like that in the squad”.

Again today, we let in a soft goal, straight under the keeper. Taylor must be pissing his pants laughing.

To be fair to the keeper he did redeem himself later with a couple of smart saves, but the damage had already been done because our "hold out for a 0-0" gameplan had already been busted.

Hatfield must be wondering what the hell he has came back to.

This decision continues to look the worst of all. Taylor is a perfectly solid NLN keeper. Replacing him with a young kid was, and remains, absolutely barmy. The way it has been done has probably also completely undermined Gowling’s authority if he brings him back.

Spot on! Will be interesting now Robson's loan period is over. Does TT return or will there be a loan extension?

Apparently no loan extension according to the Spennymoor matchday preview.

Why shouldn't T T return he's done nothing wrong is a good standard NLN keeper , I think he will be better for the break he has had. All this nonsense of TT not being good enough is absolute rubbish.
You don't blame your keeper for a poor defence which is supposed to cover him. Yes TT has his faults be so does everyone.
I don't want to see 15/20 loanee players from middle of the country back to T Wrights time.
It's got to be sorted from our own recruitment area. There are players out there. Josh is going to have to lift the players that we have. If he can't we all know what the next step is.we cannot leave it much longer.

Simple question, how would he know players from this area? He lives in Lincolnshire and worked in Hereford so obviously he will know Worcester/Midlands-based players better than North Eastern players.
I know we now have a scout, but short term from day 1 he would have little option but to turn to areas he knows from past employment.
That would have been fine as a league club in the past but as a part-time NLN side !!!!

He's got connections in the area according to his appointment. I don't believe he would have put himself in a blind position of not knowing anyone in the area without sounding someone out around what the club is about.
Anyway for me he has created his own demise by losing the players with his attitude to most of the squad that were here when he took over.josh gowling hasn't bowled me or most of the fans over with this style of football.loanee players can be good but to bring five in and shun the old guard in such a short time well I just don't know where he is going.

Robson has gone back. No improvement at all and probably didn’t do much for the young lads confidence either. An absolute shocker of a loan.

He’s done pretty well in the circumstances. Fans chanting the name of another goalkeeper who’s done no better than him after he’s made a mistake. A lot of young players would’ve crumbled, but he was the main reason why the scoreline ended respectable.

Says a lot about some of our "wonderful" fanbase.

Gowling has lost the players according to a poster above. Armstrong had lost the players was the cry before he was sacked. Perhaps actually losing a few of them is the way forward.

Funny that, because Taylor was fine in 21/22 & 22/23 & has performed well this season despite the goals against column.

Gowling has handled the situation terribly. If you could write a manual on what not to do as a football manager, this would be a case study.

Just like sending Barnes back & selling Felix when both were happy to stay.

Gowling could not have made it clearer that Felix wanted to leave, is he lying?
Taylor was a very good keeper for us in the main but there has been a dip this season in my view. Not the main weakness in the side but I’m not at all surprised that Gowling wants to replace him, Robson wasn’t the upgrade he would have wanted but not a downgrade either.

So he was lying then?
Yes I’ve been to all of the games Robson has played in, I believe he’s ahead of Taylor in a number of attributes but Taylor would have saved one of the goals scored (Spenny’s 1st).

Felix was happy to stay.

Robson was a downgrade, did you see the goals he conceded?
So he was lying then?
Yes I’ve been to all of the games Robson has played in, I believe he’s ahead of Taylor in a number of attributes but Taylor would have saved one of the goals scored (Spenny’s 1st).
Felix only wanted to leave once Gowling had forced him out. So yes, technically, Gowling was correct, Felix did want to leave, but only after Gowling had created a situation where Kaine wanted to leave.

So Taylor wouldn’t have saved any of the 4 conceded at Tamworth either?

Data also shows Taylor is clear of Robson.
