It was brave of him to tell his story & good to hear things seem to be improving for him on a personal level

I think a lot of football players go through this perhaps people should twice before they boo and criticise, imagine been in a normal job and shouted down and called all the names under the sun when you do something wrong

I took from the article that in this case it was his love of football that was keeping him going. Football wasn’t the issue here.

Some people will have a better memory than me, did he get a fair crack of the whip in this league? I can't remember in recent years many poachers that we have had, hopefully Nelson will be a good addition.

Do something wrong is probably an exaggeration in most cases.quakersfan wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 8:37 pmI think a lot of football players go through this perhaps people should twice before they boo and criticise, imagine been in a normal job and shouted down and called all the names under the sun when you do something wrong
Just being on the football pitch is justification to have abuse hurled at you. Apparantely being technically skilled at football means that you should expect it.
That makes it ok then.theoriginalfatcat wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 9:41 pmI took from the article that in this case it was his love of football that was keeping him going. Football wasn’t the issue here.

Lo, W.T.F. are you on about?? That's just a ridiculous point you've put. Nothing makes hurling abuse at footballers okay, but I never said that or even suggested anything like that.lo36789 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 02, 2021 11:06 amDo something wrong is probably an exaggeration in most cases.quakersfan wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 8:37 pmI think a lot of football players go through this perhaps people should twice before they boo and criticise, imagine been in a normal job and shouted down and called all the names under the sun when you do something wrong

If you read the article you will see that it was Nathan's love of football that was keeping him going and when Scarborough stopped playing his problems got worse. quakersfan was ruminating about footballers getting abuse and that's something I agree with but that's a separate issue and nothing to do with Nathan's problems and nothing to do with his brave decision to open up about things to the national media.

Just seemed to be an attempt to palm off the principle that quakersfan had made tbh, as I took that he was talking more generically (given his reference to a lot of players).
Don't disagree on not being a specific trigger for Nathan Cartman.
