Future of heading?

Post by Alfie » Thu Jul 29, 2021 2:00 pm

The FA are proposing limitations to heading the ball during training.

Wonder if this will eventually lead to restrictions in matches- could we get to the stage where heading is banned?

Although after Tuesday’s performance maybe we should support this all the way.

The so called footballs they are heading these days are like beach balls compared to what some of us remember. Sodden leather caseballs leaving lace prints on a CF's or CH's forehead. Sounds like another dose of nanny state too me.

A guy on TV the other day was saying that although the newer balls are lighter they can be headed much further as a result of that, whereas the older heavier leather balls couldn't be headed as far, meaning that the force on the brain is actually the same for both (I assume that the equation Mass x Velocity, i.e. Momentum, would explain this).
