Youth teams

Post by moz1963 » Thu May 28, 2020 1:32 pm

I have heard the youth teams have placed a restriction on players playing for their local teams on the opposite day of the weekend.
I wouldn't expect this from a club who appreciates the importance of local support more than others Anyone able to confirm this please?

I have no knowledge of whether the club plans to do this, but personally I don't see a problem in the club expecting youth team players to only play for us. I'd think if youth players are playing two games a weekend, then they'll be more susceptible to burn out & injuries. I think one game a weekend is more than adequate.

I believe a lot of top NE clubs do this, which is understandable as you’re playing for NUFC, Boro, Sunderland etc.

It might put a few off playing for us. Don’t really think it’s necessary for where we are at.

Is this not a requirement of players in academies?

I seem to think it's an FA ruling

So it's a new ruling for 20/21?
