Southport V Darlington
Well we know what’s coming in this game, so hopefully our game plan is sorted.
No idea what the starting 11 will be, some will be obvious, Taylor Lambert Charman, and possibly Hedley and Rivers.
Midfield, take your pick, Hatfield Wheatley Rose Purver .
Back four Hedley plus, Lawlor Ellis Cooper Strorey and Griffiths, might be wrong but did Griffiths pickup a knock at Boston.
So that leaves us with Dos Santos and Mondal, Dos Santos will probably start assuming Cassidy ban has started.
Just hope for a more switched on start to the game.

Just imagine how far that ridiculous Southport long-throw merchant will be able to hurl it, hurricane assisted, tomorrow.
There may be some travel disruption to contend with trying to cross the country as high winds continue.

Can see a few games been called off due to the weather , as travelling over the pennies is going to be tricky.

Might be clear later but for any travelling supporters who are thinking of using the M62 to get to the West coast:Darlopartisan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 11:23 pmCan see a few games been called off due to the weather , as travelling over the pennies is going to be tricky.
At 2:43 am The Manchester Evening News is reporting that the M62 near Rochdale is closed with 120 HGV’s stuck in snow

Re: Southport V Darlington GAME OFF
Presumably the draw for the next round is on Monday so at least we will be in the hat.
Re: Southport V Darlington GAME OFF
Not sure whether this is good news or not. On the plus side, lads with injuries will get another couple of days to recover fitness and more time to forget the Boston debarcle. Downside, when does the suspension for Cass come in and another weekend when out loanee players won't be playing, just when Rose was starting to find his niche in the side. Hope AA can make use of the downtime to sort out some of our problems.
Re: Southport V Darlington GAME OFF
Hope Cassidy is suspended for Tuesday night as it will be one chalked off with only 1 scheduled league game before Christmas.

Did we appeal Cassidy’s red card, does anyone know?

Be nice if we could get a striker on loan for a as month or so to help Charman.

Re: Southport V Darlington
We’ve already got Beauchamp, Mondal & Nelson. The squad is too big as it is.
Re: Southport V Darlington
Jake Cooper also played as a striker as a kid and I think was initially with Sheff United in that role before making the switch to central defence. He's not bad at getting on the end of things at set pieces.
Re: Southport V Darlington
Be interesting to see what we do tomorrow night with a few who could do with a bit of game time and Cassidy out injured. FA trophy is definitely worth our focus this season. With mediocre league form and exiting the FA cup early we could do with something to build a bit of excitement in the fanbase. Formationwise I think we should probably land somewhere between a 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3, anything that avoids the 3 at the back which seemed to cause ourselves problems vs Boston. Only team I can see being slightly interested in not cup tieing a loan player are Grimsby with Rose. In which case I'd go for:
-------------------- Taylor --------------------
Griffiths --- Ellis - Storey --- Smith
----------- Purver --- Wheatley --------
Rivers ------ Hatfield ------ Lambert
---------------- Charman -------------------
Subs: Martin, Cooper, Hedley, Dos Santos, Mondal

Can’t see Lawlor in your team, is he injured or Hartlepool don’t want him playing?JE93 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 6:58 pmBe interesting to see what we do tomorrow night with a few who could do with a bit of game time and Cassidy out injured. Re: Southport V Darlington
Neither to my knowledge, more a recognition that Ellis and Storey are our CBs and unless something changes Lawlor and Cooper will be going back to their parent clubs in January, so we should be keeping our own players in good nick with game time and chances to show what they can do. Add to that the Lawlor and Copper partnership hasn't particularly helped our goals against column we might aswell try something different.Darlopartisan wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 10:21 pmCan’t see Lawlor in your team, is he injured or Hartlepool don’t want him playing?JE93 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 6:58 pmBe interesting to see what we do tomorrow night with a few who could do with a bit of game time and Cassidy out injured. Re: Southport V Darlington
Just cant see Lawlor and Cooper not been selected with aerial bombardment that's expected , as suggested elsewhere Cooper might play up front, with Ellis and Lawlor in the centre of defence.JE93 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 7:49 amNeither to my knowledge, more a recognition that Ellis and Storey are our CBs and unless something changes Lawlor and Cooper will be going back to their parent clubs in January, so we should be keeping our own players in good nick with game time and chances to show what they can do. Re: Southport V Darlington
For Darlington to get anything from this game they have got to take the game to southport, and dominate from the off ,

Re: Southport V Darlington
Even when we're two up we can create our own problems! It's dry now but looks like a messy night on that open away terrace.
Re: Southport V Darlington
Whatever happens tonight can we please have a semi competent team of officials in charge. We have already had 3 red cards this season and not sure any of them were really justified, especially Charman’s at Southport in the league. Will be interesting to see what happens between him and their defenders tonight, and hope he gets some protection from the referee.
We also have to help ourselves and defend set pieces better. Don’t want to hear another interview with AA saying the players knew what to expect but didn’t execute the plan. Time for both the players and the management to stand up and deliver.

Re: Southport V Darlington
Early goal conceded again...
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"
Re: Southport V Darlington
Who even wants to progress in the cups? It's mid table mediocrity in the league for me again please!
Re: Southport V Darlington
Take heart I’ve seen worse defending than ours. Just watched England Women’s team demolish Latvia 20-0 on ITV4
