Darlington 1883 manager Martin Gray has pledged his support for the fundraising initiative Alf Ramsey Knew My Grandfather and will bring his staff and team to the show so fans can meet and talk to them.

The play, which is a comedy drama about the West Auckland team who won the first world cup in 1909, will run at Darlington Civic theatre from Tuesday, July 24, to Friday 27, and Mr Gray will be leading the Darlington football contingent on the Friday night.

He explained: “I’ve heard the show is brilliant and it will be a fantastic team-building opportunity. It will also give us the chance to talk to fans.

“We will be at the Darlington Civic theatre from 6pm, it would be good if fans coming to the show came along for a chat beforehand.”

All profits from Alf Ramsey Knew My Grandfather will go to Darlington 1883. The show runs at the Darlington Civic Theatre from Tuesday, July 24, to Friday 27. Tickets cost from £10 to £20. Box office: 01325 486555.
