We will have also played 30 league games before the new year, 17 of them at home leaving only 6 home games until the end of the season.quakerray - 2nd June 2012 16:07:57
good job away games are not that far away thensuper_les_mcjannet - 2nd June 2012 17:09:12
I know it's wrong because I would prefer to be higher up in terms of leagues but does anyone else look at the fixtures and as long as we are doing quite well actually get excited by them.Stockton on Boxing Day could be fun.

Someone should tell George Reynolds that Darlo are playing 'Celtic', 'Sunderland' and 'Newcastle' next season and then snigger behind their hands as he tells them that he was "right all along about them being in the top league one day when I built that stadium..."Quakerz - 2nd June 2012 19:47:30
It's better that the fixtures are front end loaded, imagine the backlog if we get a bad winter.quakerste wrote:We will have also played 30 league games before the new year, 17 of them at home leaving only 6 home games until the end of the season.
Only downside to playing 30 matches before New Year is all of the cup competitions to fit in as well - not that it's such a great problem for us!

Lower leagues always do this for the inevitable postponementsquakerste wrote:We will have also played 30 league games before the new year, 17 of them at home leaving only 6 home games until the end of the season.

You won't be saying that when you're trying to find a parking spot on Station Road on the day.super_les_mcjannet wrote:I know it's wrong because I would prefer to be higher up in terms of leagues but does anyone else look at the fixtures and as long as we are doing quite well actually get excited by them.

It is a horrible place to get in and out ofsuper_les_mcjannet - 2nd June 2012 22:16:50
Your probably right but let me dream of a perfect Boxing Day with a 500 Darlo following or more a good win that sends us 15 points clear. I know reality will struggle to deliver the above but you have to dream.BillinghamPoolie wrote:You won't be saying that when you're trying to find a parking spot on Station Road on the day.super_les_mcjannet wrote:I know it's wrong because I would prefer to be higher up in terms of leagues but does anyone else look at the fixtures and as long as we are doing quite well actually get excited by them.

Does anyone else think we've drawn the short straw slightly with the fixtures. Of the 10 midweek games before Christmas, 7 of them are at home. We know midweek matches tend to get smaller crowds, so this could have a bit of an impact on our revenue.Take Heed - 3rd June 2012 09:13:38
For those of you unfamiliar with the Northern League, the fixtures will change dramatically as the season goes on. FA Cup and FA Vase games take precedence over the league matches and last season, the league allowed teams to cancel midweek matches before a Vase game to allow them to prepare properly. Add to this at least 5 or 6 weekends which were a total wipe out due to frost/rain and numerous other postponements, then a lot can change.Nobody has under soil heating at this level, so even a frost during the week leading up can often cause a postponement and in recent seasons, refs are getting very strict on waterlogged pitches and are calling off games which would have gone ahead a few years back.
I have seen me leave the house to watch a game and end up somewhere else after the game was called off in between leaving home and arriving at the ground.

Are Team Northumbria anything to do with Northumbria University?AIDO - 4th June 2012 18:44:24
... Team Northumbria are a more developed (and mature) form of their original Newcastle Uni team. That Gillford Park game should be interesting. Their first home game in the "top flight" and under their new name to boot .... what's that all about by the way?
Good boozers in Carlisle ... I presume they'll be away ...
liddle_4_ever - 4th June 2012 19:17:12
I was wondering who that Celtic team were, when I found out it was gillford park I was wondering who they were.Team Northumbria are associated with Northumbria "university" not Newcastle University, I wonder if playing them outside term time would be advantageous or not.
Darlo_H - 5th June 2012 14:12:06
Can't imagine that'll be too much of an issue, they're only a polytechnic after allliddle_4_ever wrote:Team Northumbria are associated with Northumbria "university" not Newcastle University, I wonder if playing them outside term time would be advantageous or not.

Have the fixtures been released in any format (CSV, Excel spreadsheet?) I could just download and import into the Uncovered database? Otherwise I'm making a trip into data entry hell at some point - only to do it all again when we win our appeal
quakerste - 2nd June 2012 15:24:26
Just had a look throgh the fixtures I see we have 3 home games on the bounce in November, then after Xmas we have 3 consecutive Saturdays away in February and again at the end of March.
