SPONSOR A GOAL

Sponsor A Goal
Originally published: 27th July 2010

Many of you will be aware of the Sponsor a Goal scheme which was previously run by supporters for 4 seasons and ended after the 2006-2007 season.

For those of you unaware of the scheme, the idea is very simple.  Participants agree to pledge a sum of money for each goal scored by their chosen player, for each goal scored by the team, for each clean sheet or for penalties scored.  In order to eradicate freak results against much weaker(!) opposition, only league matches will count.

At the end of the season all participants will be encouraged to pay the sums owed and the money raised will be handed over to Neil Maddison or Craig Liddle at the end of season awards evening.  A draw will take place to decide which participants will have the honour of handing over the cheque.

This scheme naturally relies on the will of Darlington Supporters to contribute to it and therefore, as an added incentive, all supporters who donate funds, no matter how much or how little, will have the opportunity of winning a signed team shirt.

This fundraising project is for the sole benefit of the Youth Development at Darlington Football Club and is open to anybody who wishes to contribute.  It is not being organized by any individual group or organisation, just a few of us who want to give our time to raise a few quid that Lidds and Maddo desperately need.

Updates will be sent by email to all participants who submit an email address, will be posted on all of the DFC associated websites who wish to publish it and also in the matchday programme on a monthly basis.

An application form is printed on the reverse of this letter to allow you to join the scheme.  Please feel free to pledge as much or as little as you feel you can afford then watch your chosen star tuck the ball in the corner week after week.

If you have any queries, feel free to write to me at the address above or pm one of us on the Uncovered website (Allan Quatermain or Strangetown).  For those who know me, you will know which bar or restaurant I am likely to be in.
