NO EXODUS AT DARLINGTON
As reported in the Peterborough press yesterday, Mark Cooper has ended his interest in Peterborough duo Exodus Geohaghon and Josh Simpson.
It's understood that Giant Geohaghon currently has six league clubs interested in his signature, and Josh Simpson isn't keen on dropping back down to a division that he managed to escape six months ago.
Darlington fans will be especially disappointed with the news that Geohaghon won't be heading north, as his physical attributes and monsterous throw would have been potent weapons in next seasons Blue Square BET Premier campaign.
With little time to fine tune his squad Cooper couldn't hang around and will now turn his attention elsewhere for the final few players who will complete his Darlington jigsaw in time for the season opener at home to Newport County on 14th August.
It is thought at least one more defender and one more attacking midfield player are on his radar, but Mark is happy with his forward options for the coming season, commenting after the signing of Liam Hatch, "We've got five strikers there, couple of young lads coming through, so I'm pleased with the striking options."
Saturday sees The Quakers in action for the first time this pre-season at home to Sunderland and will give Cooper his first view of his players in competetive action. It's understood that there will be a number of trialists on show but that won't include Grimsby's Adrian Fobes who has been training with the club for the past week.
Neil Woods explains Forbsey's move to the Darlington Arena. He said: "Adrian's training with Darlington for three or four days. He's not playing any games, he's just going up for training. He goes back a long way with Richard Dryden, their assistant manager. Like I said before, Adrian is the ultimate professional, he does everything the correct way. They wanted to play him in a game but we wouldn't allow that, for obvious reasons."

Danny Hone. - DarloOnTheUp - 16th July 2010 11:44:01
- I agree with Quakerz. I honestly think that he should be good enough; he's 6ft4, has potential, and had a host of higher clubs after him a couple of seasons ago willing to pay large amounts. He must have something about him.

- Yes yes.
Hone is the man Cooper lined up to sign instead of Exodus. And then completed it. You don't think Cooper has another central defender lined up do you?
I think he'll have a full back lined up. - DarloOnTheUp - 16th July 2010 14:11:38

As mentioned before, I think Brough will be our back up centreback, with the option of a loan due to injuries etc. - Quakerz - 16th July 2010 14:22:20
- So do I.

i would be amazed if he does not have an experienced centre back lined up . ian miller , michael brough (a jobbing centre back) and danny hone young , promising but inexperienced . do you think think that represents a strong enough rearguard spine . i certainly don't. if exodus gave cooper the nod now he would have him in like a shot.
