COOPER HONE'S HIS SKILLS

Mark Cooper has madee his third signing of his Darlington reign with the arrival of Danny Hone.

Hone joins from Lincoln on a 6 month loan deal and is a 6' 4" centre-half. Coming through the ranks at Sincil Bank he went on to play over half a century of games for the Imps over a three year period. He was listed for loan by Lincoln boss Chris Sutton earlier in the summer as he looks to rebuild his team. Sutton obviously feels Hone still has something to offer, but will be looking toward the loan spell to freshen Hone up a little.

Hone's stock has decreased over the past 18 months and he'll be looking to get regular games under his belt and return to the form which once had scouts from many Championship teams chasing him, including Nottingham Forest who were rumoured to be lining up a £1m bid, before he was cruelly struck down by a knee ligament injury.

Described as an ugly Peter Crouch by one particular Lincoln fan isn't exactly the most glowing compliment and Darlo fans will hope his football is markedly better than his looks!

Fans may remember Hone for the goal he scored at the Arena past Shane Redmond in around the 7th minute of injury time during Steve Staunton's disasterous reign.

The signing will bolster a threadbare defence and Cooper will also hope to bring at least one more defender in before the season kicks off on 14th August. Hopefully that man will be a commanding, muscular centre half, someone in the mould of Exodus Geohaghon.
