HATCH RETURN ON CARDS
Liam Hatch is reported to be one of three Peterborough players Quakers boss Mark Cooper hopes to bring to the Arena this summer.
Fans have rallied around Cooper's interest in the lanky front man who spent time on loan with Darlo two seasons ago, in which time he built a fantastic reputation amongst supporters with his committed and tenacious performances.
And if he were to sign Darlington would boast a promising forward line, already consisting of Tommy Wright, Chris Senior and Curtis Main, as well as Michael Smith, who showed great potential towards the end of last season.
Midfielder Josh Simpson and mammoth defender Exodus Geohaghon are the other two Posh players Cooper hopes to welcome to the North East.
And as good as those signings would be, the Hitman, as he is known as by some fans, is the name on everybody's lips at the moment and I speak for them all in offering Hatch a hero's welcome should he decide to return to Darlington.

- What position does Josh Simpson play and why does everyone on here think he is so amazing?

hes a midfielder, and because he is a quality player, not a chance will we get him imo, far too good for BSP. - DarloOnTheUp - 6th July 2010 18:30:51

Centre? Winger? What kind of midfielder? And from what do you base your opinion of him being too good on? - JABWootton - 6th July 2010 21:02:39

Centre midfield or winger - he has a good engine on him, carries the ball well, and has an eye for a pass. I've seen him play several times and I've never failed to be impressed. - danny_88 - 7th July 2010 15:14:33
- Id be very suprised if we sign Josh, sounds way to good for BSP level but I suppose if they want him out on loan to get experiance then maybe.
Hatch we all no can put him self about upfront, he puts his head in wear it hurts, so he would be a great addition to our squad but it all depends whether or not he wants to move up north or not. - cameron-darlo - 7th July 2010 15:24:31

because he played 21 games for peterborough, and was very decent in the games i saw him in (even though it was only a couple. obviously wont drop down 2 divisions as i think he'll have a decent season in league 1. and not sure where in midfield. - fanforlife - 7th July 2010 16:11:42
- what a catch if out of the batch we could sign liam hatch before the first match . starting from scratch back on our patch onto loose balls he'd latch and hopefully score the goals necessary to fire us straight back into the football league at the first attempt . a massive signing for us if it comes off. here's hoping.

Kind of tailed of a bit there, didn't it? In fairness, I can't think of a word for 'scoring the goals necessary to fire us back into the league at the first attempt' that rhymes with 'catch' either, but we can make one up.

- Only problem is that The Posh will want too much Dosh for us to Cough so signing him will likely be Tosh.
- Geordie Quaker - 8th July 2010 07:13:36
- Sorry to temporarily break up what is clearly a blossoming poetry corner here ('Cough', Mike?
) but just how likely are we to get any of these three Peterborough lads?
I am all for a bit of ambition from Coops, but signing players that would be deemed above your level is often down to:
a) Excesive coinage: see Crawley
b) Deeper links with club and / or manager
Clearly the HITMAN has this from a previous spell, and Exodus will have time for the gaffer, but what possible reason would Simpson have for coming here?
You would assume our best chances lie with the HITMAN, and if he is all we get from this ambitious move then that'll do me. - Haji el Maveric - 8th July 2010 18:32:25
