Darlington manager Ryan Kidd is rumoured to have resigned from the club after just 11 days.

Maybe this would have come as a shock to people a short while ago, but the sad indicitment of the plight of Darlington FC at the moment, is that this news is unlikely to flabbergast many.

While the resignation has not been officially confirmed by the club, comments made to The Northern Echo by chairman Raj Singh indicate that it's only a matter of time before an official statement once again has to be made by the Darlington hierarchy.

Rumours circulated on the Uncovered messageboard, which is fast becoming the place for breaking news, that an ITK source had it on good authority that Kidd had handed in his notice.

Speaking to the Northern Echo this morning Singh confirmed this saying, "He's told me he's having second thoughts about the job." It is now thought that Singh will speak further to Kidd today to find out more.

Reasons for the resignation are still unclear, although it is thought that the decision by Kelham O'Hanlon to not take the assistant managers job, coupled with difficulties in attracting players to the North East to play in the BSP are key factors.

Kidd's departure after just 11 days in the Quakers hotseat is the 5th shortest managerial reign and leaves the club looking very foolish indeed. If players were difficult to attract before, the negative publicity gained from this will no doubt make it even harder.

Whether Kidd joins up with compadre Simon Davey at Hereford is still unclear, Davey having already appointed Andy Fensome as his number two. However, with the goings on of the last few weeks i certainly wouldn't rule it out.

So where does that leave Darlo - well, for the third time in the last month it leaves them looking for a new man to take the club forward, and with very little time to do it - players are supposed to be back in for pre-season training later this week, with the first game of the pre-season programme taking place in a little less than 3 weeks.

Whoever the new manager may be, he's certainly got a task on his hands.

Edit: Raj Singh will meet with Ryan Kidd at 14:30 - Uncovered will update you as and when possible.

Simon’s gone to Edgar Street,
It’s a trick that’s way down low
Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet,
And Ryan ready to go
Are you ready, Are you ready for this
Are you hanging on the edge of your seat
Out of the doorway the Kidd rips
To the sound of Davey’s beat?
Chorus

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey, you gonna go too?
Another one bites the dust

How do you think we’ll get along,
Without you, when you're gone
You took us for everything that we had,
Then left us here alone

Are you happy, are you satisfied
How long can you stand the heat
Out of the doorway the Kidd rips
To his mate at Edgar Street?
Chorus

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
There are plenty of ways you can hurt a man
And bring him to the ground
You can beat him
You can cheat him
You can treat him bad and leave him
When he's down
But were ready, yes we’re ready for you
We’re standing on our own two feet
In through the doorway another will come
We’ve the hottest of hot seats

brilliant song there, but terrible news really. I just hope the next one will be third time lucky and not be a coward. Its not as if we are going to be in a relegation scrap, heck we should be one of the strongest teams if we just add another few decent players.
