VOTE FOR NEW STRIPS
Darlo fans have the chance to vote for next seasons club strips. Due to the club being virtually rebuilt in the summer a move away from hoops was made due to the fact that they are normal bespoke designs.
Next season the club are looking to be 'on the ball' and are already making plans for the new design. Hoops will be incorporated once again and the club are giving us, the fans, the chance to vote on our favourite.
There are four designs to choose from, 2 home and 2 away. Once again they will be made by Errea and you can vote in three different way. By mail, e-mail and text but the voting takes place over the next three weeks.
All voters will be entered into a free prize draw, with a trip to Italy to see the new kits being produced as the top prize. Managing director Graham Fordy said: “Everything last summer was done at the last minute and Errea had to quickly produce our shirts from existing stock, which is why we had to make a quick decision to go with the designs. “We value feedback and the best way of producing a popular kit design is by giving the fans their chance to vote. “A number of shortlisted designs have been narrowed down by the manager.
We’re confident this will be a popular system and we look forward to receiving the votes.’’ Fans can vote for their favourite designs in the following ways: E-MAIL: E-mail “HOME KIT A/B (inserting your choice) and AWAY KIT A/B, plus your name and age”, to: kit.vote@darlington-fc.net TEXT: Text “HOME KIT A/B (inserting your choice) and AWAY KIT A/B, followed by your name, age and email address”, to: 07916 618820 POST: Select your favourite designs and send – with your contact details – to Kit Vote, Darlington FC, The Northern Echo Arena, Neasham Road, Darlington DL2 1DL. First prize is a trip to Italy (terms and conditions apply), which includes a visit to Errea, Darlington’s kit manufacturers, plus two season tickets and a signed framed shirt. Second prize is two season tickets and a signed framed shirt, and third prize is a signed framed shirt. There are also 10 pairs of tickets for the opening game of the 2010-11 season as runners-up prizes. The deadline for voting is close of play Friday, January 29 – winning designs revealed next month.

Home A and Away A look good to me.

- I like the look of shirt A & the sky blue B away shirt. At least it has hoops.
- Jazz Maverick - 11th January 2010 11:46:45
- Home A looks a good call, although theres not much wrong with Home B either. Cant go wrong with black and white hoops! Away A is a given really, playing in blue and white would be a bit of a piss take.

- Home A, Away A
That home kit looks great. I'm not a huge fan of the hoops, and have never actually owned a darlo home strip since Feethams (much prefer the away kits usually) but that one looks good, and I would definately buy it. The Coventry-esque away kit though.... no thanks

- All the kits look smart. I actually quite like the pale blue and white one but I suppose it is a no go so A and A for me to.
I do like the idea of hooped home and away kits though. I used to like the green and black one from the mid 90s - Darlo_Pete - 11th January 2010 12:03:31
- The red away shirt looks naff in my opinion. The away blue shirt is sky blue, which is a completely different blue from poolies normal colours. Perhaps RP suffers from colour blindness.

Exactly !
Gotta be red away kit !
Also option A for the home kit. - al_quaker - 11th January 2010 12:07:13
- The problem I have with the red away kit is that it looks a bit like a training top, as opposed to an actual kit, if that makes sense. Away A will probably win anyway, so I don't know why I'm thinking long and hard about this decision
On a side note, I presume that DBS are in the pictures as shirt sponsors, just so that there is a sponsor, and not that they are actually the sponsor for next season? Or have I missed an announcement somewhere. - AndyPark - 11th January 2010 12:07:44

Poolie's strip

- broadsexile - 11th January 2010 12:09:02
- I'd be less concerned about our sharing colours with Hartlepool than by the amount of white that's on Away 'B': we'd need a third kit as well. Assuming we're going down, five current Conference clubs play in white shirts - I can't see the point in us having an away kit we'd hardly ever have occasion to use.

Option A for me for the home kit and A for the away one, although Id like to see an away one based on the home kit in red & white which I think could look good.

- My Vote: Home A and Away A
I think they are both very stylish tops, I'm loving the idea of the hoops and a swish coming down the side of the Home A, and the back looks very good also. Home B is too similar to last seasons home top and what's with the black square on the back, looks terrible.
I think the red away top does look a bit like a training top but as a kit I would have no qualms with it and would easily buy it. As for the blue one, it looks ok but it's just dull

Both smart and modern looking kits, which I think could be kept for a couple of seasons. Best designs I've seen a while to be honest. Actually look quite proffesional rather than ripping off Boros keeper kit! The red one looks like a decent training kit however, if made out of the training kit material.
Hope home A and away B get the nod, and we get to see them in the football league! Howay the lads

- We had a pale blue away kit similar to this colour once before I am sure of it. Think it might have been 91/92. Maybe it was a third kit. Seem to remember us wearing it in a 5-2 drubbing at Boothferry Park.
Is Pale blue sufficiently different from Poolie blue? Why do I feel guilty liking this kit?? - number_one - 11th January 2010 13:23:35

when did we last have a kit for more than 2 seasons? must be a while ago - i know we had the same one with a revised sponsore on a couple of seasons back, but in effect it was a different shirt. if people cant afford to buy a shirt then no-one is forcing them, in the current climate it would be lunacy for the club not to change every season in the search of more revenue
as an aside to all of that, the shirt will have to change as DBS will no longer be sponsoring us, unless of course they've entered the prize draw and win it. - divas - 11th January 2010 13:26:30

We did indeed - it had Hutchison Telecom on the front and it was 91/92, and our away kit was red that year - to be honest when i looked at the designs i thought red for our away kit and the blue number for a 3rd choice should we need it.
altho reading scott's article below he suggests the blue was actually our away shirt and the red a 3rd choice

- divas i think last seasons home kit was kept for 2 seasons (i aint 100% sure tho) the red away one with the names on it definately was kept for 2 seasons, you are right people arent forced to buy them but kids like all the up to date kits and sometimes their parents cant afford them - imagine if you have say 2 kids, thats well over 100 quid to get both home and away kits for both kids - thats why it would be better to change one kit one season then the other the next - then theyd probably sell more in the long run anyway as people would only have to buy one new shirt rather than 2 rather than having to choose which one to buy

tbh hodgie, I think this strip change is being made because of the promise that fans would be involved in choosing strips, as we didnt have time last year, and our current sponsors are changing, then everyones strip is effectively going to be old so it makes perfect sense to change strip, otherwise we will get complaints about not being able to have the new sponsor on the shirt. - StevieMardenboro - 11th January 2010 14:02:13

It wasn't. They were similar but last season's had red in the shoulders, had a collar and was completely black on the back and didn't have hoops on the arms.
The 07/08 shirt had a round neck and had hoops on the arms. - divas - 11th January 2010 14:02:37

i agree - A without the black slabs would have been my choice - i could even live with the top half of the black being black, just get rid of the swoosh that chops the stripes off - dfc-hardy - 11th January 2010 15:35:42

- hodgie1 - 11th January 2010 16:23:45
- of course they wouldnt divas, if they changed the home strip 1 yr, then the away strip the next, fans will end up buying one in one season then the away strip the season after, so rather than buying ONE shirt theyd buy them both, whereas if they came out together they may have to choose, as their finances may dictate that they have to thought your alan sugar comment was crap lol
- Beano - 11th January 2010 16:43:32
- To be fair, I'm fairly sure Singh has said previously that this seasons kits were a last minute job as Vandanel refused to do business with us anymore and that he would offer the fans the choice for next season and that they would then last two seasons.

i think your business sense is crap - you still dont get it do you. i'll explain in an easy to understand format
using your rationale:
if the club changed the home shirt one season, and the away shirt the next and a fan bought the new shirt each season, the club would sell 1 shirt per fan per season
if the club changed both the home and away shirt every season, and a fan had to decide which to chose - either home or away, the club would still sell 1 shirt per fan per season.
yes there is a likelihood that fans would own both the current home and away top, but it would be over TWO seasons - from a commercial standpoint the club would have still made the same amount of money.....i'd actually argue that they'd make more as there would be some fans who would buy both the home and away shirt every season.
whichever way you cut it, its 2 shirts over 2 seasons, its basic mathematics. - Hawkeye - 11th January 2010 17:13:40

- KCChiefs - 11th January 2010 17:48:49
- Without doubt - A then B, loving the light blue, we've that colour before for the away kit back in the early 90's.
Home A is a nice variant on the hoop design. - hodgie1 - 11th January 2010 18:00:39
- again you are correct divas, but by renewing both each season it takes away the fans choice, unless they can afford both, they'll have to choose, whereas if they alternated them theyd be able to own both the home and away kits, like i said then not so well off would be able to own both the strips, maybe i didnt explain myself very good my apologies for that
- Makka Pakka - 11th January 2010 18:11:14

Away B - best of the four - hoops and a colour we've not had in years. Nothing like Poolies either. - Markodarlo - 11th January 2010 23:18:36
- Home - "A" / Away - "B"
- Breedon - 11th January 2010 23:23:08
- Great to see the club going back to the hoops! Either of the two home strips would suit me, I like the red away strip a lot better than the blue and white (scum colours, all be it lighter/and hoops) one though!
- walshys_wingman_11 - 11th January 2010 23:56:52
- Home A, Away B. Although I think we should always wear black and white hoops away unless there is a colour clash.
- Earl_Lee_Dawes - 12th January 2010 13:03:11
- Home B - the other choice is too black.
Away B - we've had sky blue shirts before, and it's a better design than A, in my humble opinion. - Mullet69 - 12th January 2010 13:04:56
- Home A, Away B for me. About time we had a different away shirt. And I don't care about it being blue.
- KCChiefs - 12th January 2010 16:56:23
- Not as if its Poolie Blue anyway, same shade as '92
Or how about Red and White hoops as an away kit ?! - Darbo - 13th January 2010 17:20:08
- Home and away kits B for me. Though I do like this seasons away shirt. I only buy the away shirts anyway.

It's nothing like a Poolies kit and anyway vertical stripes = hands up surrender. Horizontal hoops and stripes are bayonets drawn, weapon cocked on the charge!!

Oh I assure you it's nothing to do with it being Hartlepool's colours my friend, I just hate it
A nice blood red to symbolise the aggression and fight our players should show, please.
- Jonny_no2 - 29th January 2010 11:36:30
- I have voted Home A and Away B.
Away B would have been spot on if it was Red/White, but Away A is an awful design, so no way coule I vote for it.
Not too keen on Home B either, just something not right about the square on the back. - BUSHEAD - 29th January 2010 11:49:05
- God help us if we have a blue and white away kit.
Its got to be A for both,
Casting my vote just incase the blue and white numptys get there way. - Darlo_H - 29th January 2010 12:10:53
- Home A and Away A for me.
Not bothered about the away strip being blue, just prefer the look of the red one.
