FA Trophy
FA Trophy
With the news that Steps 3-6 are suspended for the duration of the lockdown, this will mean a delay in the FA Trophy.
We currently have no game scheduled for 5th Dec as it's the Second Round. I'll be amazed if we're out of the lockdown by then anyway, but even if we are, the first round is this weekend, which I'd assume now isn't being played.
A bit of a pain.

When they made draw yesterday for trophy and Vase rounds, they did not announce dates for those rounds.H1987 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 11:48 amWith the news that Steps 3-6 are suspended for the duration of the lockdown, this will mean a delay in the FA Trophy.

Even if lockdown is over by 5th December ( doubtful!), then the Step 3 and below clubs won't have been able to train or play for a month.
it reminds me, they still haven't decided what to do about the 2020 Vase & Trophy finals. which were postponed in May, re arranged for October, but postponed again
Re: FA Trophy
I thought they were cancelled? Sure I saw something not that long ago about it.
Re: FA Trophy
It is built into the calendar however and you can find the planned dates on the FA website. It'd make sense for the National league to do some shuffling and get a game played on the 5th, I would think.spen666 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 1:10 pmWhen they made draw yesterday for trophy and Vase rounds, they did not announce dates for those rounds.H1987 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 11:48 amWith the news that Steps 3-6 are suspended for the duration of the lockdown, this will mean a delay in the FA Trophy.

Just hope we get a tournament this year. I do like the Trophy.

The FA posted this on their website after the draws were made:H1987 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 2:58 pmIt is built into the calendar however and you can find the planned dates on the FA website.spen666 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 1:10 pmWhen they made draw yesterday for trophy and Vase rounds, they did not announce dates for those rounds.H1987 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 11:48 amWith the news that Steps 3-6 are suspended for the duration of the lockdown, this will mean a delay in the FA Trophy.

"We remain in dialogue with the UK Government in relation to men’s ‘non-elite’ football in England and will release the fixture dates for both the Trophy and the Vase in due course."

Good call re the National League doing some shuffling. It would be a shame to waste a weekend. If the sides are not in the Trophy that weekend, they should be able to switch the fixtures with the planned weekend the Trophy will take place

Re: FA Trophy
probably bring a midweek game forward
Re: FA Trophy
That would be the best way using up free Saturday's, rather than having mid week games on a cold freezing Tuesday night.
Re: FA Trophy
It is likely that at least one round of the Trophy is likely to have to be played mid week in any event to make up for the round "lost" in lockdown.
It is to be hoped the National League are on the ball and act proactively to bring a round of fixtures forward to fill the 5th December date.
mind you the way the FA treat non league clubs, they will probably insist postponed round of trophy is played on 2nd & 3rd of December with next round played on 5th

Re: FA Trophy
Liverpool City and hopefully a game on Saturday after that should blow the cobwebs away before a few important local derbies that will determine the direction the season will follow, will fans be washing seats at the arena before Xmas?
