Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
Just to make people aware I have checked the Curzon site and the game is being streamed for the price of £6.95.
Looking forward to seeing some league action and getting some points on the board.

Thanks Ste that’s good to know. Should be a good game as their pitch is usually in great condition. Probably the best playing surface in our league and will hopefully suit our style of passing football.

The first time I went to Curzon Ashton on entering the ground I thought that they had an astrotuf pitch! Their groundsman richly deserves the plaudits and awards that he gets.
Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
I was of the same opinion when I went to the ground for a night game mid August . I was convinced it was 4g even when stood pitch side, probably the best lower league surface I have seen. Hats off to the groundsman

Here’s hoping we come back with something.Curzon has been a bit of a bogey place for us.

It's also been pretty friendly when I've been, decent bar and food service too. Handy for meeting my Ashton based relatives!
Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
Curzon is a great little setup. That standing terrace on the far side is excellent
The only problem with it is we rarely come away with anything

Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
Four points from the five visits since we came up from the Northern League. Any stattos out there want to suggest a team we've got a worse away record against since promotion from the NL (let's say a minimum of five away matches)?

Really enjoyed going to the ground, but always saw us lose there. Hopefully we'll have better luck this time, as we need to start picking up some points.

Don't think our record at Brackley is too clever

Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
4 points from 12 against Brackley at their ground.
Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
So not quite the minimum 5 games biccyana suggested! A 33% away "points" ratio is maybe good over a whole season? I have not looked at last seasons table though.
Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
But how many teams have we played against 5 times since Northern league days ?
With promotions and relegations and us going through Evostic North, Evostic Premier to NLN there won't be many.
Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
I’d imagine quite a few given this is our 5th season in NLN
Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
Maybe. Maybe not. I'll let someone else put in the yards to work that one out. Either way, our record at Curzon is worse than our record at Brackley.banktopp wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 9:11 amBut how many teams have we played against 5 times since Northern league days ?

Believe it was after Curzon game (we lost) MG announced he was leaving for York, definite bogey teamDarlo_Pete wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 8:05 pmReally enjoyed going to the ground, but always saw us lose there. Hopefully we'll have better luck this time, as we need to start picking up some points.
Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
Those four games also include that sensational, Styche-inspired 4-2 win we had at St. James Park (how many St. James/James' Parks are there?!) a couple of seasons ago, so Brackley's bogeyness coefficient is definitely lower than Curzon's in my opinion.biccynana wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 11:50 amMaybe. Haven’t done the research but can’t remember ever winning at Southport.

Or Chorley. 2017 was a horror show.
Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
Our record at Kiddy since 2016 is pretty bad. In 4 seasons:
1-2
3-3
2-5
2-2.
2 points from 12.
Before that:
2-3 (Conference 1st time)
0-0
0-1
1-1
1-1
0-1
Never won there in a league game.
Have also lost 3-1 in Bob Lord Trophy and 2-1 in LDV vans
In fact our only win there ever was 1-0 in the FA Cup. Some young lad scored. Was it Campbell?

Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
I make that 5 pts from a possible 30, just 16.67% of the available points. I think we have a winner!Vodka_Vic wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 4:56 pmOur record at Kiddy since 2016 is pretty bad. In 4 seasons:

Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
Just beats Walsall. Our league record there is 1-7-11. We haven't won a league game there since 1922.

Last win at Southport was 3-0 in 1970. My first ever Darlington game was at Haig Avenue in 1978 and yes, we lost 1-0!

Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
I remember playing at Chorley in 1990, when the 200 or so Bolton fans turned up looking for a bit of bovver & I think they were surprised at the number of Darlo fans at the game, as they were escorted out by plod. Can't remember if we won or not, it was a few years ago.
Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
It was Sept 89, Pete. Won 3-0 (Cork 2, Hine).Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 6:15 pmI remember playing at Chorley in 1990, when the 200 or so Bolton fans turned up looking for a bit of bovver & I think they were surprised at the number of Darlo fans at the game, as they were escorted out by plod. I think we won at aggborough in our first conference season, chandler scored the winner. 2-1 perhaps?Vodka_Vic wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 4:56 pmOur record at Kiddy since 2016 is pretty bad. In 4 seasons:

Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
You're right. Just checked. So I think that makes our record v Walsall the worst.
Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
I dare say we’ve played plenty of the teams in this league away in another game over the many years of our existence

Re: Curzon Ashton 31/10/20
Cheers for that, it only seems like yesterday, haha. I thought we had won, but couldn't remember the exact score. I remember it was a Tuesday evening & I drove down with a car full. After the game we found my car had a flat tyre & the wheel nuts had been on too tight, Didn't get home until 3am, happy days.biccynana wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 6:33 pmIt was Sept 89, Pete.
