New keeper
New keeper
I see no movement on this front, can only assume it's going to be a season long loan now,
Time ticking down to restart the season, I will be going if allowed wearing a mask and social distancing.

Re: New keeper
We haven't even started pre-season training yet. There is still nearly 7 weeks until the season starts.
I would expect us to have a keeper for our first pre-season game, which isn't our youth team keeper, it may just be someone on trial though. Expect AA will have them in from the 22nd to train with the team as well before making a decision.

Think it’s been mentioned a few times that AA said he’s looking at trialists in pre-season. Plenty are interestedonewayup wrote:I see no movement on this front, can only assume it's going to be a season long loan now,

I'd say not just last summer...Darlofan97 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 11:02 pmWe rushed last summer in signing a goalkeeper - be patient.
Re: New keeper
I was told by somebody last night we have a former Barrow goalkeeper on trial. Apparently was out injured for a while last season does anybody know who he is ?

Re: New keeper
I would guess it's Johnny Saltmer. Signed for Barrow last year after a loan spell from Hull City, however he was released after their promotion to the Football League a few weeks ago.

Re: New keeper
No great rush for a keeper at the moment according to AA, one on trial at the moment plus another one coming in but also mentioned possibly the loan market is another option so no announcement imminent.Talking to a midfielder and this possibly will be the next signing.

A great little signing that's all ...Sorry for using the wrong emoji.. I've stood in the corner for 20 minutes and had a word with myselfQuaker85 wrote:Why the eye roll Harry?HarrytheQuaker wrote:Well it won't be Dimitris Konstantopoulos he has signed for Thornaby

Re: New keeper
He was a good keeper when he wasn’t over 40. Disastrous in his brief cameo at Hartlepool last season

Still you have to think he’ll be a great signing for them as long as he’s fully committed of course.divas wrote:He was a good keeper when he wasn’t over 40. Disastrous in his brief cameo at Hartlepool last season

Re: New keeper
Certainly for Thornaby, but not for us. I'd hope we will aim a bit higher
Re: New keeper
I'd assume he's just playing for fun at this point, as Arca did at Shields. He hasn't played with any regularity for five years for Boro and he was old then.
I guess we will look at the free agents available and make a decision. Loans are always there also, although I suppose if we take one from Boro then they will be expected to play every game. We could do worse than Zach Hemming again tbh.
I really don't like us not having a keeper on the bench, so I hope we can maybe get a young lad in from somewhere to compete.

I don't know if he played last night but if he did he can't have been much good as thornaby were smashed six-nil by Marske United.HarrytheQuaker wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 8:51 pmWell it won't be Dimitris Konstantopoulos he has signed for Thornaby

Denmark v England tonight has 2 former Darlo keepers at opposite ends, clean sheets for both too.

Yep, that’s because it is a goalkeeper shirt if you look in the Puma catalogueHarrytheQuaker wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 9:03 pmOn another note did anyone watch Soccer Aid on Sunday?? The rest of the worlds goalkeeper shirt was our Away shirt/training Jersey...

Newcastle have the same design for their away keeper shirt next year but in neon pink rather than green

Re: New keeper
According to Sky Boro have made Pears available for transfer...
Re: New keeper
Ainsley pears, No way could we afford the lad, however maybe a stop gap if he can't find a club
Would help him keep his fitness up but I very much doubt that happening, ainsley will be picked up by a league club.

Re: New keeper
Would have him back without hesitation. He would be ok even if we were just used as a shop window for his skills pending a "real" transfer deal.
Re: New keeper
My mates reckon he looked ok at times in the Championship last year. Clearly Warnock doesn't fancy him, but i'd think he'd be attracting at least League One interest.norwich darlo wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 7:45 amAccording to Sky Boro have made Pears available for transfer...
Re: New keeper
Sure I read a while ago that Tony Mowbray at Blackburn was interested in him. No chance we will be getting his services.
