Wouldn’t be surprised if we were in for both.

I thought us and Spennymoor were in for Maguire before he decided he wanted full time football, so it wouldn’t surprise me if it was the same this time round.

We could go for Sean McNulty and have the oldest central defensive partnership in football if we paired him with Nicky Hunt.

Yeah the position of chief benchwarmer at Spendy is vacant after Boyes’ departure so they’ll be in for Maguire without doubt.

A little surprised they’ve released Kallum Griffiths to be honest. Wouldn’t mind seeing him here but a RB isn’t a priority for AA.

I was thinking the same and came to the same conclusion! Plus I suspect Spenny might go in for him...

Rumour mill saying we were looking good to get Maguire, Gateshead have since come in and offered him loads, therefore increasing his demands from us.

Could be bull but Gateshead seem to consistently find people to put money into them so wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up signing for them.

They are staying full-time next season and hasn't that been an issue with him.

Depends on the very generous terms he has allegedly been offered, terms we couldn’t offer him.

Money talks. As it does with all of us regardless of profession.

It’s sounding like we’re closing in on Maguire, announcement likely to be next week along with another player.

I would like to hope so, but money will come into it, I suppose it depends on what the lad wants, if he comes to us he will play a lot more football .

Any gut feeling on the other player CR, no news on Adam Wrightson having signed for anyone plus the obvious one in Langstaff.

Let's see if Non League Guy comes up with anything Adam, but Lambert could well be in the loop along with the 2 mentioned.

Quite a selection of forwards if we get Maguire, with Campbell and the lad from Newcastle already competing, and Donawa, Holmes, Rivers and Reid filling the positions behind and either side.

Certainly gives the manager plenty of styles and systems to choose from.

Maguire signing is another pretty big statement of intent. Great options up top now, just a matter of AA finding the right combination and keeping everyone content as I would imagine there will have to be a fair bit of rotation. Hopefully, the season can start in some form!
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

It's nailed on that he will have been offered more money elsewhere but the AA connection and how he has sold the club to Maguire, the way we play, the players we have from his Blyth days and that he clearly wanted to play part-time again which suits him have all swung it in our favour.

When you consider we already have a striker who would most probably have hit 20 goals if last season had finished, this signing points to an exciting time ahead with goals written all over it. I could quite easily see him getting back to his previous goalscoring form and we should be posing all sorts of problems for our rivals.
