The playoff contenders, Altrincham’s win has them join the top 5, Brackley and Gateshead are right behind with three games in hand. Spennymoor’s midweek win has them join this group, leaving four clubs behind.

Re yesterday, It seems that Storm Dennis wasn't as bad as it's predecessor.

To state the obvious, we need some some points onboard shortly to keep momentum going.

Blyth have got the look of doom about them and you can't see them clawing the gap back. They've used 41 different players this season with 15 loan players including Jack Lambert who sat out the entire match on the bench as Blyth slumped again yesterday. I don't think Lee Clark has a cunning plan to launch a great escape.

Passed BM this afternoon & the rugby pitch at the back of the open end was covered in water, so good decision to call the game off early.

The majority, if not all the standing water will have been from the deluge through the night.

Personally glad it was called off gives players an extra week off and the likes of Liddle more time to get full match fitness.

Ginge I thought you said you would start doing your predictions from February, as to who would be going up automatically, who would make the play-offs & who would get relegated?

Bloody Blyth Spartans and Bradford park avenue if they hadn't been so hopeless we might have had a shot at getting rid of Gloucester city and Hereford reducing our travel costs.

Lets see if we agree on this Ginge. I built out my league results predictor to predict results to the end of the season and therefore provide a predicted final league table.

(For anyone interested in the methodology, it works on an expected goals basis. The analysis splits historic results into home and away, based on these previous results it assigns each side an attacking and defensive score for playing home and away, these scores are taken into account along with league average goals which provides a value. The values are then plotted in a Poisson distribution to show the most likely outcome of the game based on the goals they can be expected to score.)

Image

Not even sure I agree with it tbh, but the reason its showing York as predicted winners can be seen at the far right of the table, an average of 0.5 goals conceded per game for York, compared to 1.1 for Kings Lynn. Because the table is predicting results based on expected goals, York concede half as many, they therefore need to score less to win which is statistically more likely. Which gives them a very impressive winning record into the end of the season. In my personal opinion, I don't think Kings Lynn will be caught, so i would swap them into first and York into second.

I think the rest of the table looks about right though. Unless we find some more consistency we may well end up cut adrift of those challenging for that final play-off spot. At the moment we don't score enough for it to give us a realistic chance, and we're being carried by our home form. If we can start scoring goals and picking up wins away from home we might be able to drag ourselves into that playoff picture. Would be a very exciting final day if the league predictor has got it right, 3 teams battling it out for one spot. Would certainly prefer to be Guiseley in that situation, away at Curzon Ashton compared to Spenny away at Chester and Gateshead away at Brackley.

At the bottom, fully expect Blyth and Bradford PA to be cut adrift at the end of the season, a terrible season for both clubs. Too many changes, poor managerial appointments in the summer and too little too late to try and salvage it.

We need a run or we're done. I'd say we need to probably find a win at Gateshead, but to be honest, I think they might pull away. They had a slow start, but I think they're a better team than the others around them. I think we're more likely to catch Alty or Brackley.

I'd be amazed if Kings Lynn blew it to York at this stage. Points on the board and all those games in hand. It's theirs to blow, I would say. I'll be happy to get rid of them as well. 'North' indeed.

Even when we got to 6th other teams had games in hand which they duly won. Be surprised if 7th place only got 66 points

We have a reasonable home record at the moment but with Altrincham brackley town and kings Lynn town due to visit Blackwell meadows before the season end we are certainly going to be tested to the hilt.

Even if we fall short we could still have a big say in how others fare.

Some late goals about tonight Southport equalised in the 94rh minute at brackley town and Chester overcame kings Lynn town 32 with a 93rd minute strike wonder if kings Lynn bubble is starting to burst. Alfreton town continue their fine form since we hammered them beating Leamington by a single goal.

Would love to get Tyrone Oneil in for the last 10 games his potential goals is the only thing that could get us into the play offs

Firstly, not going to happen. If he goes out on loan it'll be to a higher level than ours.

Secondly, our best run of form came after he'd left so what makes you think he's the only thing that could get us in the playoffs?

After the timing of the recall and the way Tyrone's been treat since his return to Boro i personally hope we never borrow another player off then while woodgate is at the helm.

Ginge certainly had a slack week with all those games being postponed & next weekend looks to be nearly as bad. We have dodged a bullet avoiding Boston who are on a straight run of wins. Kings Lynn suddenly hit buffers with two successive defeats. I can't see our game at Hereford being on, so another chance to ease our injury list. The predicted final table seems reasonable, but the thing about football is that the improbable can happen & if we could put in another strong finish, we could squeeze into the play-offs yet. There are a lot of 6 pointers left to play, so let's not give up hoping for a miracle👍

Yeah, that'll teach them... :eh: although I dare say Woodgate won't be there a lot longer. What an awful season they're having. A few of my mates are Boro fans and they're just despondent (can't blame them).

Them recalling him was absolutely crackers, and I'm actually really rather surprised he hasn't surfaced somewhere else up the ladder on loan. It'd be worth asking the question again. They can only say no.

O'Neill has been captaining Boro's Under-23s and scoring and creating goals as they have won their last four matches. He's played in midfield as well as up front. I can see his career going in the right direction and perhaps getting some loan time in the Football League next season.
