York;
York 2-1 Bradford; York did just enough today to beat last place Bradford 2-1, scoring in the 13th min to lead at half time. A second goal was added in the 80th min before Bradford scored in stoppage time.

Chester;
Chester 4-0 Southport; Chester rise to third, completed the double over rivals Southport with a 4-0 win today to go with the 3-1 away win on Boxing Day. Brackley;
Brackley 1-1 Kettering; Brackley’s struggles at home (7-5-0) continued with a 1-1 draw with 20th place Kettering. Brackley equalised in the 34th min after Kettering had scored three minutes earlier. There were no goals in the second half, Kettering had missed a penalty before Brackley missed their own in stoppage time that would have given them three points.

Spennymoor;
Spennymoor 3-1 Darlington; Spennymoor rose two places to fifth with a 3-1 win over fellow playoff contenders Darlington with Spenny scoring two goals in the 85th and 89th min after taking an early lead but were level at half time. Questions will be asked about the quality of their ground and abilities to steward large crowds.

Farsley;

Boston;
Boston 0-3 Kings Lynn; Boston suffered their first home loss of the season to league leaders Kings Lynn. Boston trailed 0-2 at half time on the way to a 0-3 loss.

Darlington;

Gateshead;
Blyth 3-3 Gateshead; In a back and forth game Gateshead failed to put away second bottom Blyth. They led at half time 1-0 with a penalty goal after 19 mins and made it 2-0 after 58 mins. Two quick penalties conceded had Blyth level after 78th mins before Gateshead missed a penalty after 81 mins. Gateshead thought they had won with a 90th min goal lead before Blyth scored in the 93rd min to finish the scoring at 3-3.

Altrincham;
Altrincham 2-1 Curzon Ashton; Altrincham rose two places to 12th with a 2-1 win over Curzon Ashton, they trailed 0-1 at half time but goals in the 56th and 58th min were enough to win the game even after been reduced to 10 men in the 74th min.

Gloucester;
Gloucester 2-1 Leamington; Gloucester returned to winning ways over Leamington in this hard fought game, scoring in the 22nd and 37th min to lead 2-0 at half time. Although Leamington scored after the hour, Gloucester were able to hold on and win 2-1.

Curzon Ashton;
Altrincham 2-1 Curzon Ashton; Curzon Ashton scored after 29 mins and led 1-0 at half time, but two second half goals conceded were enough to defeat them.

Kettering;
Brackley 1-1 Kettering; Despite their lowly position, Kettering remain tough to beat, having lost 1 league game in eight, today away from home holding third place Kettering to a 1-1 draw. Kettering took the lead in the 31st min, before conceding an equaliser three mins later. There was no further scoring, Kettering first had a chance to win from a penalty after 80 mins that was saved, then Brackley had their penalty saved in stoppage time.

Blyth;
Blyth 3-3 Gateshead; Blyth fought back all day in this game, trailing 0-1 at half time before slipping to 0-2 with 76 mins gone. They converted two penalties in the 76th and 78th mins. They then survived Gateshead having a penalty saved with less than 10 mins remaining only to concede a third goal to Gateshead in the last min before fighting back in the 93rd min with an equaliser to earn 1 point with a 3-3 draw.

Bradford P.A.;
York 2-1 Bradford; Bradford were not able to take any chances early in the game and conceded a goal in each half before ex-Quaker Liam Hughes who had entered as a sub replacing ex-Quaker Adam Nowakowski scored in injury time but it was not enough in this 1-2 loss.

2020 is here, lets up Darlington return to winning ways on Saturday, this year continues on the excellent football I saw them play, and they can rise in the playoff chase.

Going for the league championship, Kings Lynn keep up the momentum with another win

In the playoff hunt, Chester’s improved form lift them to third, Southport have slipped, Guiseley have risen, Altrincham’s three straight wins have them rising, and four games in hand on 6th Farsley and 7th place Southport as Guiseley, boston, Darlington and Gateshead all look at the last two playoff places.

The inconsistents, teams that look too strong to be relegated, but too inconsistent to move towards the playoff group. Hereford finally won after nine games to improve their league place. Gloucester rise up after their victory

Darlo_Pete, thanks for your kind words, I flew out of Newcastle to Heathrow on Sunday, then a connecting flight to Los Angeles arriving home Sunday night. I had a great time in the North East, thanks as always to Darlington F.C. and Darlo Fans Radio for making my three games more enjoyable, the rewards were three good solid performances and three wins. Yesterday was a disappointment result wise, we were playing away to a team above us, and despite a tougher second half were within ten mins of an away point. Being far away, it was back to 7am with familiar radio voices, they do reproduce the game accurately, and not with biased blinkers on. I will keep doing my updates, they are 2-3 hours of work, I’m not complaining, it makes me feel closer to the team, and the league in general, I hope it adds to the enjoyment of other Quakers fans who come to this site. I’m already ready for Saturday’s game, Gloucester will be pleased with their win yesterday, I will be hoping for three points for our lads. Thanks as always for your replies. Happy New Year to you and your family
