Darlington V Spennymoor
Re: Darlington V Spennymoor
Agreed with the above.Perhaps DMP a bit more professionally run than Blackwell lot and will be much appreciative of the benefits of having a relationship which works for both parties. Don’t ever see Wilkinson and co ever being good bedfellows for us.
Re: Darlington V Spennymoor
Hopefully a Spennymoor win today, in your club house enjoying a pint of your real ale, 3 real ales on aswel, very good

Bit naughty Spennymoor ripping our new flag down off the back fence
Re: Darlington V Spennymoor
Not sure if there is segregation today but if there is leaving the Flag up is asking for trouble?Darlopartisan wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 3:01 pmBit naughty Spennymoor ripping our new flag down off the back fence

Please don't bash the pessimists who were guessing at sub-2000; I am sure they are delighted to be proved wrong. Now, if only it were 2000+ each game...

Always enjoy Boxing Day at home even the RC staff appeared to make an effort today. All in all a good day.

Yep I reckoned 1,800 to 1,900 so well happy with 2,204.
Spenny support poor though, seen the excuses on twitter and whilst I agree it's not the best place to watch footy for away fans but that wouldn't put me off watching my team on a boxing day. Maybe it was the new fans, or 2nd team fans who didn't travel.

Re: Darlington V Spennymoor
Decent after all. 1,900+ home fans, would have been happier to see 2,000+ home fans on a Boxing Day, but, it could have been worse!
Expected more from Spendy than the 200 or so that turned up.

Great game & enjoyed the hospitality experience, a lot better than I was expecting. Thought we were the better team & Campbell's score was brilliant. Great crowd & really pleased we got well over 2000. My estimation of 2500, would have been spot on if Spennymoor had brought a decent following, was it announced as 214, which is absolutely pathetic, considering the run they have been on. Perhaps no free transport put them off. Groves must be wondering why he bothers.

I heard 218 or 280...didnt look any more than they could have fit on those 2 coachesDarlo_Pete wrote:Great game & enjoyed the hospitality experience, a lot better than I was expecting. Re: Darlington V Spennymoor
It definitely wasn't 280, it could have been 218. Very embarrassing for PolarBear, such pathetic support for their cup final. If you want to see decent away support at this level, you'll only have to wait till New Years Day, when Darlo come to town.
Re: Darlington V Spennymoor
Thoroughly enjoyed that today. We can beat anyone in this league at home.
Thought the Spenny away following was what was to be expected. They only had a few hundred actual fans. Which is fine. There's only a couple of idiots who have to run their mouthes each time we play them, trying to argue otherwise. They had an allocation of covered seats which wasn't even full.
Just watch, we'll build a terrace there in the next couple of years and the usual idiots will make another excuse as to why it isn't good enough for some of them to grace us with their presence. The weather was fine, and they're a couple of miles up the road. It's not like the view is obstructed. It's hard standing, you shouldn't be that surprised by it when you're in this division.

Re: Darlington V Spennymoor
Apparently objects were thrown by the spendy fans at Campbell when he scored at there end.
Re: Darlington V Spennymoor
They chucked a bottle of coke at the celebrating players. Ainsley thought his side didn't deserve to lose and a terrible refereeing decision killed them.
Re: Darlington V Spennymoor
Do you think we might be able to identify them in the crowd?Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 7:52 pmApparently objects were thrown by the spendy fans at Campbell when he scored at there end.
Re: Darlington V Spennymoor
Thought they were another Southport. Team of big players whose forté is pig punts and set pieces. Bit disappointed by them actually. Was expecting a slick footballing side.

Re: Darlington V Spennymoor
Being in hospitality today, I was able to witness Hatfield getting his MOTM award. Then Thommo came in & I was able to grab a couple of words with him. I told him that I spoke to Alan Walsh after the match when he scored his 100th goal & I was proud to congratulate him on equalling Walshy's record.
Re: Darlington V Spennymoor
Great result for us today. Thought we did both sides of the game well today. Strong performances from 1-11. Special mentions for Laing and Storey who barely gave the best centre forward in the league a sniff. Hatfield and Wheatley for dominating the midfield. Cambs for that special goal in the first half. And Thompson, nerves of steel to take that penalty for the lead and number 100.
For Spenny, I expected more. McKenna and Taylor were dangerous. But other than that, I thought they were ordinary, too many long balls. Curtis and Buddle won plenty in the air but vulnerable along he floor.
Great to see 800+ from Spennymoor there, behaving like the saints they are, kindly thanking us and congratulating us on a great win on the way out. In the real world. 2000 odd darlo is great and just the win we needed to show people we are a proper team in this league and they should come give their support on a regular basis.
4 points from the next two would be a brilliant christmas period and set us up well to try to push for the playoffs in 7th and have a go at the FA Trophy for the rest of the season.
Credit Alun, his staff and players they have brought back the feel good factor.

Re: Darlington V Spennymoor
I didn't think they're as bad as Southport... but i also think that actually, we're a very good footballing side. We get the ball down and play, and at Blackwell, with a big pitch and decent surface, other teams struggle with it.
Also, going back to earlier discussion of attendances... I think part of the problem is some of our fans *constantly* complaining about Blackwell Meadows, including unimportant, trivial stuff. Not likely to encourage casual fans back is it??
How about be positive about going to the match and encourage people to come along? The fanbase is what it is, and growing it again isn't going to happen overnight.
Re: Darlington V Spennymoor
I couldn’t make today, but when I checked twitter and could see Thompson had scored his 100th I looked at the dog. “Get in there ey son” I said to the dog. The dog looked at me, “P1ss off you sad boring cun7” barked the dog. “Nice one, no left over turkey for you” I said in replyDarlo_Pete wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2019 8:28 pmBeing in hospitality today, I was able to witness Hatfield getting his MOTM award.
