Darlington v Chester

Post by Old Git » Fri Dec 06, 2019 8:40 pm

It’s been a tough week but we have a chance to get back on track tomorrow. Not sure if Hadfield is banned for this game. If so will be a big miss.
Hopefully we will get a positive response from the players and get something out of the game.Chester will be a hard nut to crack but we are capable of playing well and with a bit of luck in front of goal who knows what could happen.

Strange enough has it is we nearly always do better against the stronger clubs. Alun Armstrong has form against Chester his Blyth Spartans team trounced them 8 1 at the beginning of last season wouldn't mind seeing a repeat of that drummed up has a pre Christmas treat.

I have decided tomorrow to have a bet on us winning this game, (may be stupid I know), not sure what the odds are but should be reasonable I assume. A bet on us to win and another one for us to win 3-1, (and no I haven't had a drink). Think we deserve a bit of luck and Sat may just be that day😉

Bookies not taking any chances we are currently best price of 2/1 with Bet 365 to win the game. Shorter elsewhere.

I don't understand these comments about "having a bit of luck." If we are totally honest, isn't our recent poor goal scoring record more about not converting the chances we seem capable of creating, that is not down to no luck but poor finishing? I really hope we can get a result tomorrow.

I think he means what I've always called a 'rebound goal'. During the promotion season under Cyril Knowles we were experts at them. It's where a shot gets deflected in the box and someone else is on hand to score from the rebound. You need a bit of luck for the ball to drop favourably.

We do need luck but the harder you work the luckier you get. And for heavens sake shoot lads stop trying to walk the ball in

I guess every team could bemoan not having any luck. I have always believed it evens out over a season. Look at that Telford miss in the first half!

As Mister e says, it's simple probability. The more shots you have, the more chances of rebounds you have.

We were so shot shy on Tuesday. We didn't get many clear chances, but surely a couple of half decent efforts from outside the box would have dragged some of their defenders in to the ball in future attacks and created a bit more space in behind?

Thanks for that, I don't bet on line so expect I will have to settle for shorter odds😕.

Thought given our respective positions and recent results it would be better but still having the bet.

Hello all, Chester supporter here.

I have a compiled a matchday preview for tomorrow’s game on my YouTube channel which includes previous matches between The Quakers and The Seals, form guides for both teams, plus much more. If you are interested in watching it then just click on the link below.

I haven’t visited your ground before so I will be making the venture for the first time tomorrow. I was just about to get on the coach for last season’s game only for it to be postponed, so sadly I couldn’t make the Tuesday night match due to exams. Hope you all enjoy the match tomorrow afternoon:

Good stuff, welcome from a fellow Doherty.

Cant make the game today but its a tough call for Darlo who are still in a transition season.

Hope you go up, had some good days at Sealand Rd.

Problem with the lights, if they can’t fix it will probably be abandoned

I find myself wondering if the lighting is the responsibility of the landlord or the tenant, but at least they are working well enough to get the second half under way.

Or is this a cunning plan to avoid a repeat of last week?

Great team performance. Every player played well. Special mention to Holness and Wheatley. We didn’t miss Hatfield which says a huge amount. Donawa clearly is hugely talented and deserves a run of games now. Well done Darlo!

Important 3 points. We were just starting to slide down the table a little too much. Could we actually have a Boxing Day fixture where we're not looking over our shoulders?
In a way, and I know this is with hindsight as we won, but Will Hatfield's suspension could be a blessing. I think he needed a rest and this will have done him the world of good.

Lads played really well, campbell did a sterling job as a number 9, best I think I have seen him. Whole team were immense, not sure I would change that starting 11 for the next game.

And won the win bet on the team at 6/4👍

Campbell did play well until he ran out of steam. I just wish we wouldn’t keep hitting long balls his way as he’s never going to win any against big centre halves.

Shame Tommo couldn’t finish his chance as this 100 goal thing has dragged on for far too long now.

I imagine it would depend on what’s in the tenancy agreement but given the way the rugby club like to run things I’m guessing it’s their responsibility. Another question would be who’s responsible for the costs in an abandonment as we would have to compensate our opponents travel costs.

We will have no choice. Connell is missing next week as its a trophy game.

Thought we played excellently, despite the best efforts of the floodlights. Scott comes out with a classic, 'looks like we're ready to start' & a second later all the floodlights go out, it was superb timing Scott.
