FA Trophy 1st Rnd Proper - options
By all accounts the 1st Round Proper is still regionalised.
64 Teams will make it through and in 3rd Qualifying Round we had 18 North ties and 22 South ties.
With what seems 11 Northern National league teams to add to the 18 teams making it through, then either the most southern team will move up or the most southern team through will move into the Southern section. Hereford dropped into the Southern section last year, so maybe them or Kings Lynn Town.
Below are the 29 teams (including us), most options are our league or the National League but it's just nice to be in the draw.
Curzon Ashton
Altrincham
Farsey Celtic
Hednesford Town
FC United of Manchester
Stourbridge/South Shields
Blyth Spartans/Alfreton Town
Gloucester City/BPA
Chester FC
Matlock
AFC Telford United
Southport
Kings Lynn Town/Hereford
Atherton Collieries
Kettering Town
Halesowen Town
Leamington
Barrow
Solihull Moors
FC Halifax
Harrogate Town
Stockport County
Notts County
Hartlepool
AFC Fylde
Chesterfield
Wrexham
Chorley
Darlington

Order of preference:
1) Poolie
2) Anyone from a lower division at home
That simple

Re: FA Trophy 1st Rnd Proper - options
Altrincham seem to have a hoodoo over York City, knocked them out of the FA Cup and Trophy both times 1-0 away from home too. Also not many North East teams are left in it looking at the results from yesterday.
So hopefully a lower league opposition at home and the draw is live on TalkSport2 at 1245 for those with access to DAB or online.

Prize money isn’t that great. An away tie at Hartlepool will probably fetch more revenue in.darlo2001uk wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 10:41 amWe should be looking to go as far as we can in theTrophy to gain maximum prize money, so a lower league side at home should be our priority.

Halesowen Town are likely the lowest rank team in our half of the draw, step 8 so two division below us.
However they did knock Gateshead out yesterday, but would take them at home if possible.

The costs of that game could be large though.divas wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 11:09 amPrize money isn’t that great. Worst tie for our off field volunteers would be Hartlepool at home, just wouldn’t like to put that on the club board and volunteers.

Not if we can string another good cup run together.divas wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 11:09 amPrize money isn’t that great. Re: FA Trophy 1st Rnd Proper - options
If we won 4 ties and got knocked out in the semi (highly unlikely) we’d gain £28K prize money. To progress on your rationale of playing lower ranked clubs at home, gate receipts after costs(ground rental & stewarding) would be negligible. We’d need an attendance of 1000+ to turn make it worthwhile. Away ties with fewer costs against small clubs may make a couple of grand at best.darlo2001uk wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 11:11 amNot if we can string another good cup run together.divas wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 11:09 amPrize money isn’t that great. An away tie with Hartlepool would generate about £30-35K in gate receipts alone

Haha. Quality how we now see the prize money as small.
We couldn’t win a game for years, things really have changed

Re: FA Trophy 1st Rnd Proper - options
It’s not that the prize money is small per se. Just that gate receipts can be bigger if the correct club can be drawn away from home.
The ideal scenario from a financial viewpoint (if not going on to win) would be Hartlepool in the semi final, bank the prize money until that point then a big payday on gate receipts. It’s going to be very difficult for both clubs to win the required amount of games to get to that point tho. There’s a decent chance one of us goes out in the next round.

Dream scenario for me personally is a Stockton / Darlo double on non league finals day!

Totally get it, just funny how things have turned around this season.divas wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 12:06 pmIt’s not that the prize money is small per se. Just that gate receipts can be bigger if the correct club can be drawn away from home.

A successful season for me was mid table, cup run and to hopefully not require 500 club extension and maybe show a profit.
At the moment AA and the board look like achieving all my targets. Even in AA interview he seems to be suggesting that we are already planning financially next season in terms of being able to go for it a bit more.

Are you saying we pay a rental fee to the rugby club on a per match basis?divas wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 11:17 amIf we won 4 ties and got knocked out in the semi (highly unlikely) we’d gain £28K prize money. Come on this is us your talking about don't you just know it has Hereford kings Lynn away written all over it
Re: FA Trophy 1st Rnd Proper - options
Will all be clear after the draw today & replays tonight. Hope we get a decent draw & continue to build up our coffers.
Re: FA Trophy 1st Rnd Proper - options
Honestly, there's no reason we couldn't cause an upset and beat Pools. Even just setting the finances aside, I want the game to happen.
If we can't have them, then yeah, home draws against lower league sides as far as we can go. Sides from our level are frequently competitive in the competition, there's no reason we can't be.
I don't know why, but I have a funny feeling we're going to land South Shields at home.

This. We've just matched a league 2 side, admittedly a poor one, over two legs. There's no reason why we can't beat a mid-table National League side.H1987 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 9:07 amHonestly, there's no reason we couldn't cause an upset and beat Pools. Craig Liddle is God!!
Re: FA Trophy 1st Rnd Proper - options
I will take the closet side to me/easiest one i can get to by train at their place, thanks.
We don't need to play Poohles yet. Better to beat them in the final
