Good to see Tim Sheens the ex coach of Hull KR is replaced by Tony Smith, positive move for Hull KR. Although they could have waited till after this coming weekends fixtures.

There are misquotes and rumours kicking about all over about the reason for Tim's leaving. I was speaking to Mike Smith our CEO the other day to do with my work as disabled fans liaison officer just before his leaving was announced and he told me to expect the news. The club knew he was not going to sign the contract for the next 3 seasons and was going back to work in Aus at the end of the season. Tony had intimated he was interested when TS left and the club thought he was a good choice and did not want to risk him going back to Leeds or elsewhere.
He has signed until the end of the season and as long as we stay in SL then will sign a 2 year deal with a years option.

Staying in the PL shouldn't be an issue, as it looks nailed on that London are the strong favourites to get relegated. To be honest and not disrespectful I am surprised that Tony Smith hasn't gone to a bigger club in Britain or Australia. There could be a vacancy at Wigan in the near future!!

The "small club" he has gone to has the 4th highest crowd attendance in SL despite being wrongly denied a licence for 10 years by Redhall, and being treated as second class citizens since we got back ?
The small club that have won far more than the likes of Warry in our history ?
The small club with over 6,000 season tickets amongst it's 7,500 crowd?

You do talk crap at times Pete. I know you follow Wigwam, but do you ever take any notice of the wider game ?
I would never ever belittle a club with such a comment. Believe me, once we have had 3 seasons away from that ruddy middle 8's farce we will be fighting back near the top of the league. Of that I am 100% sure.
I was having a long conversation yesterday with our CEO in regard to my work for the club as Disabled supporters coordinator and he told me that Tony actually made the first contact and that we took matters further quickly because Tim fer from being sacked asked to be released early from his contract so he can take a break before starting his new job in November.
The deal as done suites both parties as we can have a look at each other and see if the way we want to go is similar enough. If not, neither is locked into a contract they don't fancy.

Having a reserve side next season will make a massive difference to KR. So glad it is now mandatory. As our chairman has said for years, he wanted 1 but saw no point to only play 3-4 games a season.

With Toronto coming up this summer it really is going to be a worry next year as they will simply buy their way to the top if nothing changes. You may find this of interest

On current rugby, Thanks Wakey for screwing up last night. Makes tomorrow even more interesting !!!

I took some photos and intended to give you a full match run down, unfortunately with about 15 mins to go Sarginson and Kane Linnett ran into each other,(total accident). While Sarginson was on his feet in about 1 minute, Kane was out before he hit the floor and there was no flicker of movement in the 23 minutes the medics spent treating him on the pitch before taking him off on a stretcher. At 1 point they were doing CPR for about 3 minutes.
Sickened everyone as it was quite close to the North and East stands so we got a good view of all that happened.
I decided not to post anything until we know how he is as it was certainly a game changing moment.
We know he went to hospital in Hull and apparently he has been moved to the spinal unit it Manchester,(Great hospital I spent 6 months there after my RTA), but we have not heard how he is.
The 1 thing I will say is a massive respect to all the Wigan fans,(most away fans of the season apart from Dull). They were quiet all the time Kane was treated. I did not hear 1 word of complaint and they gave him a standing ovation as he was taken off.
Still feel sick so I will give you a match run down once my head is clear.

Sorry Ed I didn't hear anything about this incident until I read your post above. It doesn't sound good for Kane when he has been moved all the way to Manchester to a specialist spinal unit. Let's hope it was just that they were taking precautions and he makes a full recovery. Not surprised that the Wigan fans showed complete respect, I'd hope all rugby fans would show respect for what happened and concern for the player injured.

I'm working down in Bradford from Thursday and noticed that Wigan are at the Leeds Rhinos on Friday night. Think I'll go and watch, hopefully we'll push Leeds down towards a relegation battle and at the same time pull away from the trouble near the bottom.

The new stand at Leeds is good. Good game for KR as it will help keep 1 close to us.

Bit of a surprise tonight as Castleford throw a 10 point lead at half-time to lose 31-18 at home to Hull. Hope Wigan have better luck tomorrow.

Well really enjoyed that game, the Wigan defence was awesome and it was great to see Tony Clubb rumbling in for a try right at the end, in front of a large Wigan support. Puts Leeds in deep trouble near the bottom, which no doubt will please Ed and Rob.

Been very down all week. We have had no word at all about Kane, which is unusual. Hoping to get some info today.

Yet another non try to celebrate for Wigan there Pete as Clubb clearly dropped the ball and knocked on going over the line. How the hell do Wigan St's and Warry get them every time? As Rob will concur, it does get annoying and repetitive, though in the end, glad of a Wigan win. I still say 16 points gets us safe.
Big game today and bigger 1 next Thursday night.
Leaving in 20 mins.

Well I'm sure today's result will have lifted your spirits, with a shock 16-14 win over Warrington, well done.

Good game and deserved win. I was sat having lunch when the teams were given out in the lounge at about 1-15 and I straight away had a nice bet on us winning.
Good news on Kane. He is out of hospital and was at the game. Could be back for the Derby in 2 weeks time.

A bit of a spoiler to get home and find London won again. I still think Leeds and Udders are in the mess, and Salford if the lose tomorrow. Leeds in particular must be very very worried.

I'd be very happy if Leeds get relegated and they're form is really poor at the moment.

So would I, but there is more chance of me changing and following Hull or Wigan.
If they finish bottom the RFL will simply increase the number of teams in the league so avoiding the need to relegate them.

If I were a Salford fan I would pull my hair out.
Week after week they win games they should lose then lose games they should be bankers to win.
Easily the most unpredictable side in SL.

Hull KR are pretty unpredictable as well, they lose games that they should win and win games that they should lose. I would say that SL has been more unpredictable so far this season, than any other previous season.

I agree with the last part about the league being unpredictable but sort of shrink away from us being unpredictable. We all know we have a lot of very good players this season and I was confident of being in or at least near the top 5 at the end of the season.
When you take out virtually the entire pack for half a season and have guys 3 stones less and playing out of position and you simply can't put the same side out each week because of injuries any fan who looks at the bigger picture would admit we have done well to win as many as we have.
I am slightly mixed about Tim Sheens leaving because we were just getting players back and starting to show. That said, everyone is very much boosted because of the change of form since Tony Smith came through the doors.
Right timing or right manager is open to question, though I have to say the rugby has changed beyond belief in 1 week. From being dour and grinding we were throwing the ball round like a pack of loons on Saturday.
Thursday night really is a big big game and can't be understated. The only plus is if we lose we have them at home again in a couple of weeks.

Yep a massive game for both sides on Thursday. It's a pity that you can't draw and then would send Leeds down to the bottom, haha. I take it that you won't be going to the game Ed and you'll be just watching on TV?

Going down tomorrow to see friends and coming back on Friday.
1 dayers to London are not possible any longer.
I have even booked a hotel in Hull for Derby night next Thursday. It is simply getting dangerous for me to travel to long in the dark as I get tired so easily.

Massive game for Hull KR tomorrow night, as they host their local rivals Hull. Hopefully Hull KR will spring a surprise and beat Hull, to send Leeds to the bottom of the table. :D
