Signings
Re: Signings
Lost track a bit with his loans last season, but it's not Vaulks is it?
Only other possibilities I can think of would be Kneeshaw maybe having signed a contract on the quiet (or on some kind of gentlemans agreement until he's fit again) - or did we have a young keeper who warmed the bench for us last season?

Don’t believe there are 9. Maybe it was a typo.

Yeah I thought that Vic. Bascombe talked in that article about next season as though he’d be here

Re: Signings
Don't know anything about him but Armstrong rates him as one of the best players that he's ever worked with. Can play anywhere in defence and in midfield. Think he's been playing the holding midfielder role at Blyth during their run.

Re: Signings
Saw some clips of him on youtube and he does look a very good player both in defence and midfield.Very pleased with this signing.Ghost_Of_1883 wrote:Don't know anything about him but Armstrong rates him as one of the best players that he's ever worked with. Re: Signings
Pleased with all 3.
Didn't know much about Liddle but after reading the Blyth fans opinions it seems he's a quality left back. Rivers, well he's quite well known as a tricky winger. Atkinson, if he's as good as Armstrong says and he can play in midfield then he could fit into that problem defensive midfield role which we never filled properly after Turnbull went.

Re: Signings
All very good signings, possible another one we would all like could be also on the way,
Re: Signings
After learning from the experience of last summer I will reserve judgement on the signings until we've played a few games. However, nothing to complain about so far
Re: Signings
Jameson and Maguire also set to leave Blyth. If Maguire's rejected shields, the Spendy vibes and York presumably he's headed for the Football League.

Re: Signings
Steady away signings for us, I guess we are just waiting on Laing to be announced and that covers the ones we know. Starting to build on a NE base again.
Still quite a bit of work to do for Armstrong though need a GK, at least one ST and probably a few others.
Interested to see how much we dip into the loan market, as others mentioned I don't think it will be as much as we originally wanted.

Re: Signings
Don't suppose it will matter too much about loans if we can get a reasonable sized squad of permanent players within budget.
Re: Signings
End of May and I'm already happier with this year's recruitment than last year's, with two months to go until the season starts. We're signing players from around this area who have already proven that they are good enough in this division and have already worked well with each other at Blyth.
The only player that we could class as 'proven' last Summer was Simon Ainge, and that was a massive risk due to his prior injury, and look how it turned out! Very excited for the season, can August hurry up?

Nicholson had played 2 seasons I believe and scored 10+ goals each one, so he was proven.Darlo2807 wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 7:29 pmEnd of May and I'm already happier with this year's recruitment than last year's, with two months to go until the season starts. Elliott was proven and had played the last couple of years at Nuneaton.
Henshall, Burn, Ainge, Hughes all had reasons to be doubtful about them.
Maddison was a bit of unknown and I think we all expected to be better, it's like his opening day mistake just never left him.

Re: Signings
Current squad of 12 without Elliott who we don't think has a contract and Laing who hasn't been officially announced.Ghost_Of_1883 wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 7:23 pmDon't suppose it will matter too much about loans if we can get a reasonable sized squad of permanent players within budget.
In that squad includes Glover & Burn who I can't see playing a part. Then Ainge, Nicholson and Trotman who all have reasons that might make them leave.
I think Armstrong may well bring in 2/3 loan players but finance wise we were told we would possibly have more. Still a lot more changes to the squad ahead.

Re: Signings
Team for the season so far
No GK so far
Trotman Laing Galbraith Liddle
Rivers Wheatley Atkinson Nicholson
Thompson
Ainge
Subs: Burn, Glover, kids
It's already looking as strong and as deep as Tommy Shite's squad!

Definitely do not want to see Ainge up-front again next season, it was awful to watch.

Re: Signings
Personally I thought he was half decent in the first 8 or so matches, but we didn't play to his strengths. He was out injured after that, then in and out of the team mostly as a defender, with a few cameos up top. But he never got the run of matches as a forward.Darlofan97 wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2019 7:58 pmDefinitely do not want to see Ainge up-front again next season, it was awful to watch.
Needs to score 20 goals next season to justify being here though, as I get the feeling we will have a fair few decent defenders.

Re: Signings
A bit of further information on Atkinson from a Blyth fan - he played RB and CB for them until he moved into CM for the last few matches of the season where he was "fucking pronominal" whatever that means. The fan can't understand how he hasn't been picked up by a full time local club.
He's not going to be pissing off to Iceland again mid season though is he?

Re: Signings
Didn’t he move back the UK for family reasons so can’t see any reason why he would piss off back to IcelandGhost_Of_1883 wrote:A bit of further information on Atkinson from a Blyth fan - he played RB and CB for them until he moved into CM for the last few matches of the season where he was "fucking pronominal" whatever that means. Not on official site, interviews online tomorrow and in Echo already.
Nothing on official site but believe Ray may well be away, not sure if/why someone else can't have added anything but they have signed.
