Bloody hell, they should re-name our league National League Div 1, not impressed.
Re: Its Gloucester City and.....
Would it not make more sense to have 20 teams in NLN this season and 24 NLS teams?
I know the National League don’t do that thing called ‘common sense’ but it was just a thought I had

to be fair to the FA - by the time we get to this stage its simply a question of looking at all the 44 teams in NL N & S and drawing a line somewhere. The real problem is the lopsided level below, with the four feeder leagues - three of which, to most darlo fans, look suspiciously 'southern', as shown in their names - Southern League South (proper south), Southern League Central (south midlands and east Anglia) and Isthmian (London ish). Only the Northern Prem gives any hope of getting proper northern teams coming up.Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 8:10 amBloody hell, they should re-name our league National League Div 1, not impressed.

So in reality, things could only get worse in following seasosn? In time hopefully sides moving from the Northern League, may start to redress the balance.Alfie wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2019 8:31 amto be fair to the FA - by the time we get to this stage its simply a question of looking at all the 44 teams in NL N & S and drawing a line somewhere. I don’t see the problem. If we’ve got aspirations of promotion we’ll have to play further south anyway. It’ll make for an easier transition.

Re: Its Gloucester City and.....
This is probably the state of affairs for the foreseeable future.
As Alfie says, you've only got one of the four Step 3 divisions which would, geographically at least, be considered Northern.
Next season as well, they're expanding the NLN and NLS by two teams. So just two go down and four sides from Step 3 come up, which means at least two Midlands sides will be coming up. In essence it just entrenches this further.

The biggest problem this year was the league above not below. The National League relegated 4 southern clubs.Alfie wrote:to be fair to the FA - by the time we get to this stage its simply a question of looking at all the 44 teams in NL N & S and drawing a line somewhere. Re: Its Gloucester City and.....
Perhaps they should amend their relegation rules, so that the bottom two Southern teams get relegated and the two sides lowest in the league table North of Watford gap also get relegated, haha
Re: Its Gloucester City and.....
Well, they have a certain amount of balancing which is necessary. It's just inevitable at whichever stage you get the drop from national to regional level.
What they can - and should - do better with is the regional leagues that feed upwards should be structured in a better way. It's a nonsense to be automatically feeding a midlands team into the north, and we'll end up in a couple of years they'll have to change it because the situation will become exacerbated.
