If it is AA then maybe he'd bring Daz Holloway with him, also ex-Darlo

Re: New Manager Interviews this week
I'd love us to get Bower over Armstrong. Bower has just gone on with it and not grumbled publically when his budget was cut, whereas Armstrong has been a bit like Gray in complaining about his budget. I wonder if either managerial candidate will have told their current club that they've applied for the Darlo job or would they try to keep it a secret, so that they don't look disloyal to their current club?
Re: New Manager Interviews this week
If it was announced as AA the Blyth fans would be angry but not entirely surprised. But if it is Bower it would be like a bolt from the blue for most of the Bradford fans.

It's not pleasurable to stick up for York City, BUT - but it was D.J. who made the decision not to go ahead with this fixture.jjljks wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 8:20 amThen renege on that promise, like York City?Darlo_Pete wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 8:17 amPerhaps we'll agree to play a pre-season friendly with them.

Re: New Manager Interviews this week
Bower has had Bradford playing good football and consistently challenging for the playoffs.
I’d be happy with him.
I’d be happy with him.
Re: New Manager Interviews this week
The appeal for Armstrong for me is that he’ll probably be able to bring in a good few lads front blyth. Not sure whether that will be the same for Bower. We’ve got a big job on to rebuild
Re: New Manager Interviews this week
A very rational reasoning - both are quality candidates.
I'm also surprised and impressed that we've had no leaks whatsoever!

The Northern Echo understands that names are in contention at this stage have previously played for Darlington and an appointment will be made early next week - Echo
While Stoddart's paragraph doesn't actually make sense (neither does the opening paragraph), I'm sure he doesn't actually mean that all those on the shortlist have previously played for Darlington......

Re: New Manager Interviews this week
Interesting to read that Bower has twice signed Adam Boyes, although I dare say he doesn't come cheap now that he's felt the Spenny vibes. I do think Boyes will want out of there having spent lots of the season gathering splinters in his arse on the bench with Taylor being impossible to dislodge as CF. I don't think he'll fancy another season like that.

Why would he not mean that?darlo2001uk wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 2:16 pmThe Northern Echo understands that names are in contention at this stage have previously played for Darlington and an appointment will be made early next week - Echo

Otherwise he would have said 'all the names'.

The shortlist has been whittled down and is now...short.
It's not hard - those in contention have played for Darlo. That's all there is to know.
Two candidates are at NLN clubs - and must have played for Darlo if they are in contention. If they aren't in contention there would be no point mentioning them.

Re: New Manager Interviews this week
The names that are in contention have played for Darlington - is obvious enough to most.
There is no absolute need to have said "all of the names", although it may have helped.

Re: New Manager Interviews this week
Makes no difference.
"Names that are in contention have played for Darlington" reads the same.
If he meant only some of the names in contention have played for Darlington. he would have said that, and said "some of the names", if we're using your logic.
Anyway, we can argue this all day long thanks to the slight ambiguity in the article which may or may not have been intentional - we'll find out early in the week who it is anyway.

With Spenny playing with a lone striker, and that will be Taylor,Boyes will always be a bench warmer and surely will want regular football. He would certainly get that with us.LoidLucan wrote:Interesting to read that Bower has twice signed Adam Boyes, although I dare say he doesn't come cheap now that he's felt the Spenny vibes. Having read the article then yeah it could be a bit clearer, maybe needs a word adding and one removing to make it 100% accurate and no confusion.
I have updated it for the Echo

Re: New Manager Interviews this week
I am going to nail my colours to the mast and say our new manager is Alun Armstrong - done a very good job at Blyth - former Darlo player, having the rug from under him pulled - obviously it goes without saying that he wants to get out of this league as soon as possible - wonder what assurances (if any) he has been given.

Can't see Boost The Budget moving much till the announcement.
Help get the club back to Darlo by helping to spread the word about the "Back to Darlo!" fund. The image on the right will be constantly updated with the latest total so please feel free to use the image link below the thermometer on your own signatures, blogs, websites, etc. | Image link: http://www.mydarlo.co.uk/img/BTD-therm-350x100.jpg |

"Nearly three-quarters of the way there
We're well past the halfway mark in our Boost the Budget campaign, with over 260 fans pledging different amounts over different payment periods.
You can pay as much or as little as you want, or you can pay a one-off figure -- it's up to you. Essentially though, you're boosting the football club's budget, and giving the new manager some spending power when he/she starts team building during the summer. It won't be long now before he's announced.
So can we pass the £60,000 mark and push for the £80,000 over the weekend? Follow this link to our platform."
Because of the expectation of the announcement can't help but feel the above update/expectation will put the breaks on it till the new manager is named, today could be the first day the total hasn't moved.
