The silken maccalsfield

Post by onewayup » Wed May 08, 2019 4:34 pm

Seems that they owe 20,000 to a club for training and 73,000 to HMRC a winding up order has been postponed till June, not looking good as they also owe players salaries for last month, according to local Cheshire papers.

Hopefully now they've avoided relegation, they'll get their finances sorted out.

Oldham apparently in dire straights financially, Bury millions in debt losing 50k a week and their fans don’t know if they’ll make it through the summer, Bolton going into administration, Notts County millions in debt and just been relegated, the majority of football league clubs are financial basket cases being propped up by private money.

If you check out a twitter page called ‘The Price of Football’ it literally tweets the finances of football clubs, the game outside the top clubs is a financial catastrophy.

What on earth is that title.

Haway man, it doesn’t take much to get a team name correct and it’s nickname; especially if you’ve been reading the article regarding the said issue.

That’s all.

Andy Holt the Accrington chairman put some good tweets out regarding finances in football. He keeps his house in order and clubs like Bury spend money they don't have to get promotion.

Would be a shame to see macclesfield wound up over less than a 100k debt. Friendly club, enjoyed my visit there last year

There is something radically wrong with football and the way financial regulations are being enforced. Surely the FA need to get off their F** A****, get some proper auditors in to check their books and sort out the owners. Fans are being conned, abused and fleeced of their heritage. Premier League are stripping the lower leagues of revenue and in the long run, will kill football as we know it.

What can the FA do?

They have no power to remove owners or prevent people buying clubs.

The only real power the FA have is to exclude from their competitions clubs who have owners they don't like. Excluding club from all FA competitions effectively puts club out of business thus there is no club left. This would leave fans worse off.

The situation is not satisfactory, but the FA can't go behind the law of the land as set out in the Companies Act in this case. The FA can in practice do very little

There's an awful lot that the FA can do but they can't be bothered as has been said, Darlington fc didn't go into administration but the previous owner didn't give the golden share over so they the FA deamed us a new club chucking us down 5 leagues, so yes the FA could Do more than they do to alleviate alot of the problems within the whole structure of their league's and competition, s
It's just they to bloody lazy unless it's a lower league club. That they throw the book at at them.

What could the FA do? Its all very well to come out with the mantra the FA can do more, but no one can actually come up with anything more the FA could legally do

Darlington (for whatever reason) did not have a football share. any club without a football share is treated as a new club. That is to stop situations like a new club being formed eg AFC Wimbledon and claiming to be the old club that still exists albeit unpopular. Its a simple rule, no football share, then treated as a new club. Avoids arguments et Northwich Victoria and 1874 northwich or Enfield Town, Enfiled 1893 and Enfield Borough all being splinter clubs of the old Enfield. Its harsh, but clear

It is virtually impossible to work out which of the three Enfield clubs are the genuine successor to Enfield FC - the club that we beat twice in our Conference season of 89-90 (1-0 and 3-0). They were however, a major non league club for decades and would sit in todays era as a doppelganger to Telford,Woking or Sutton United (I've resisted comparing them to any former league clubs) although Yeovil would be an example of one.(Yes I know they are again)

The ground was beautiful (as those of us who went there in October 1989 will testify) There were some fabulous teams in the conference that year, non more unusual than Fisher Athletic - I'll always remember some Darlington fans complaining to a few bobbys that some Millwall fans (there to support near neighbours Fisher) had knifed them - with the Coppers retort, "well you're still alive son"

Of the current trio - Enfield Town are the only one to play in Enfield, and indeed still support the original club colours.

Decline of Enfield F.C.

In 1999, Enfield F.C. sold its Southbury Road stadium, and began ground sharing with several nearby clubs. Eventually, the board decided on a long term ground share with Boreham Wood, 10 miles away. Fearing that the club would never return to its home borough and the team would continue to struggle near the foot of the league, a group of fans set up a supporters' trust. The trust hoped to become involved in the running of Enfield F.C. and to bring about the club's return to play in the Borough of Enfield. For months, their attempts to help were rebuffed by chairman Tony Lazarou. In February 2001 a deal to transfer control of the club to the Trust was proposed, but Lazarou stalled on the deal for several months and by the beginning of June nothing had happened.

When the club sold Southbury Road, £750,000 from the sale was placed into an escrow account, for the use of the club in building a new ground. In 2001, chairman Lazarou asked Enfield Council to hand the money over to him even though he had not identified a site for a new ground; after Lazarou threatened legal action, the Council handed over the money. After this, a group of supporters formed their own club, Enfield Town F.C., based in Brimsdown, "to keep football alive in the borough of Enfield".

After these events, Enfield F.C. struggled in the Isthmian League Premier Division, and was relegated in 2003. The 2003–04 season was even worse, finishing bottom of Isthmian League Division One North. In 2004–05 Enfield F.C had moved to Wodson Park, Ware and came second in the Isthmian League Second Division, winning promotion to the Southern League Division One East.

Lazarou owed Enfield Football Club a vast amount of money from the sale of the ground at Southbury Road. A Football Association hearing stated he should repay to the club a sum believed to be in the region of £200,000.

During the close season at the end of the 2006–07 season, Enfield had no choice but to liquidate due to the debts owed to the Inland Revenue by former chairman Lazarou, forcing the club to resign from the Isthmian League Division One North. Enfield Town F.C. approached Enfield F.C. proposing a merger, but the Enfield F.C. officials opted to remain a separate club, and formed a new club named Enfield 1893 F.C.

Phoenix Club
Enfield 1893 joined the Essex Senior League which was situated one step below the Isthmian League Division One North. Enfield 1893 retained all of the Enfield F.C. playing staff who had finished in 13th place in the Isthmian League First Division North the previous season under manager Kevin Lucas. They led the table for much of the year but missed out on promotion on goal difference. They finished second again in the 2008–09 season.

The club shared with Broxbourne Borough V&E from the start of the 2009–10 season, at Goffs Lane,[1] This groundshare lasted for one year, with the club finally moving back to the borough of Enfield in 2010, after merging with Brimsdown Rovers and moving into their Goldsdown Road stadium, which they shared with Enfield Town for the 2010–11 season, prior to Town moving out at the end of the season.

In 2010–11, the first season after the move to Brimsdown, Enfield 1893 won the Essex Senior League Championship, but were not promoted to the Isthmian League Division One North for the 2011–12 season, due to ground grading requirements. This was a bitter blow for the club and resulted in the breakup of Kevin Lucas' squad. After one more season, in which the club finished 7th, Lucas resigned to take over at Ilford in the Isthmian League Division One North.

The Enfield 1893 committee settled on experienced manager Gordon Boateng as Lucas' replacement, but despite a promising start, the 2012/13 season petered out into a disappointing 9th-placed finish and defeat in the Gordon Brasted Trophy Final. At the end of the campaign Boateng and the club parted company, with the club announcing a week later that promising young manager Luke Giddings and his assistant Paul Norris would move from Eton Manor to take charge of Enfield 1893 for the 2013/14 season. Despite a superb campaign in which the team amassed 91 points from 38 league games Giddings saw his side finish 3rd, behind Great Wakering Rovers by a point and Haringey Borough on goal difference. Worse news was to follow when Giddings announced in June that he was standing down due to work commitments, however, the club moved to ensure continuity by promoting assistant Paul Norris into the role of first team Manager.

There is now an additional club Enfield Borough FC formed as yet another breakaway/ splinter club from the remanats of Brimsdon and also the gradual break up of Enfield FC

How many clubs can be formed from one original club?

Enfield Town, the club who play in the Borough were formed before the original Enfield FC ceased to exist, so can't legally be the successor club, albeit they are the fans club!

Its situations like this and Northwich that support the FA position regarding the football share being needed to prove you are a successor club.

Enfield Town did not take Enfield's place in the pyramid but had to start again

So the fa could stipulate that you need to lodge full accounts with them, that you can only use 60% of income for playing budget (gifts/fund raising like ours can be used to top up) loans only for infrastructure.

If the rules are set in stone, then youd get less people trying to get to the promised land and they would live within their means

To get the thread back on track the fa can so something by making there joke of a owner fit and proper test more stricter for starters. Seems to be more dodgy owners since it came out!
