I think 4, the red on the sleeve gives it the edge.

Kits don't really interest me that much. They all just look very similar and very similar to this seasons strip. Would have liked something different but sure those who have more of an interest probably like them and it's more me than the strips.

Yes, they do look very similar to this seasons strip, I guess they are subtly different. If the new kit isn't much different to the old one isn't there a danger people won't bother buying it?

3 for me. It just looks a good balanced, uniform shirt. The red bands on 4 look like a couple of random red captain's armbands plonked on there and out of keeping with the rest of the kit.

Think I would fancy a change this year, and as I buy home and away shirts every year so don't want a similar layout plus I like the collar idea so option 2 for me. Think I may be in the minority though.

Apart from we’ve actually got proper hoops for the first time in years, front maybe similar but at last we’ll be playing in hoops rather than horizontal stripes

I went for 2 - I really like it. However, I'm fairly sure 3 will win. And it's a nice kit - would be good to see the return of hooped socks too

Now for an orange away kit please

Number 4 for me. Sounds like 3 is the popular choice atm.

I'm pleased we have actual hoops for a change as opposed to just vertical stripes on the front.

Proper hoops should be mandatory!

Just out of interest. Do you think the fans would ever vote for something other than hoops? Say hoops is option 1 whilst options 2, 3 and 4 are different variations of black and white but not hoops. Would option 1 always win?

I'd love a hummel kit in the mid 80s style

I think the only way that would happen is if the hoops were blue and white

I would like a change - particularly a sash or quarters. Even a predominantly plain white kit can be smart. Alas, I'm fairly sure hoops will always win a public vote

Another question (or two) - I personally think ditching the hoops for one season would freshen things up a bit. If we were given 4 or 5 options with no hoops in sight, would people get upset and do you think we’d sell as many shirts for a non-hooped option?

There’s bound to be the staunch hoop camp that kick up a fuss initally. I think it depend on how good the alternative are really. If the club can come up with something that isn’t hoops but is really smart then I don’t see why it wouldn’t sell. To be honest I buy one every season and it just gets chucked in a drawer these days. I’d like to think that there could be things done to a shirt that isn’t predominantly hoops to give a nod to the hooped brand. Something like some smaller hoops on a shirt sleeve for instance.

I think the vote is quite important in selecting which to wear as afteralll it’s the people that will potentially be buying the shirt that are voting so the decision would need to be made for one season not to offer a hooped choice

I'd buy more than one if it was a long-sleeved hooped shirt.... now that would be the biz :D

Option 2 for me it's really nice and a bit different. I always like to get a new shirt, but I don't like the crew necks, so I haven't bought a shirt in quite a while!!

So when you say you always like to...

Is kit pattern part of a club identity? If you went through the PL & FL could you say what kit teams will wear (beyond just colours) - I'd have thought that you can.

I think we are the only team in black and white who generally plays in hoops. Plenty of teams wear stripes or plain white shirt / black shorts so I quite like that we are unique in that sense.

2 for me too, 3 and 4 just look too much like this seasons kit, and red, no.
"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883

I'd quite like us to go for the classic, smaller 3 hoops at some point, and predominantly white. I really liked the thin hooped one from a few years ago also (when Glenwood Paints were the sponsor).

I do think a Darlo kit should always be black and white hoops though. It feels like it's part of our identity. You can add a degree of variation to it though.

I think the reason we often don't have full hoops is probably to make the numbers easier to read on the back. Hopefully we'll go for red numbers. I do like a little red flash / trim to the kit in some way, as on the badge.

Oh, and there seems to have been two threads, but I went for option 4. I like the red flash on the sleeves. 1 is a horror show, and i suspect we will end up with 3.
