Re: Hartlepool match confirmed at BM
I love how everyone keeps saying we need to keep Ainge in defence. FFS we bought him as a striker and he will be on striker money.
We need him up front asap because we have no cutting edge.

Re: Hartlepool match confirmed at BM
Put Ainge up front in this system and we'd still have no cutting edge - how many times do we actually whip the ball into the box?
Re: Hartlepool match confirmed at BM
I’d agree that whilst we need some up front who can put a chance away i can’t see it being Ainge unless we completely change the way we play and given we’ve only recently stumbled across something that sort of works I’d be loathe to do that. We need someone a little bit more dynamic. Whether we can bring in that person is another matter

Yes we need someone more dynamic, to play next to Ainge.
Have faith, he looks like he's getting fitter.
Saunders does not score enough, and Thompson isn't a centre forward.

Did we make any profit from Tuesday night ? The police costs must of taken a huge chunk out of the gate monies, and stewards of course, anyone like to have an informed guess?

Re: Hartlepool match confirmed at BM
No idea, it depends on the police costs.
1,758 x at say £7 average ticket = £12,306. After the VAT man takes his chunk we're left with £10,255.
Out of that we need to pay match officials, police at the ground, and possibly a percentage to Durham FA?
What is left, spilt down the middle and add £440.

At least we won't have to share the car parking cash with the Poolies, should be a tidy sum if all those cop cars were charged

Ainge is needed in defence more than up front, until Hughes returns. Of course Vaulks could come in for Ainge in defence and then send Ainge to play up front.

Re: Hartlepool match confirmed at BM
You're contradicting yourself here. Your initial post said we should be optimistic because we'd been competitive against a full time team from the division above.50 years wrote:Gramps, I never said we could compete with the teams above, I was talking about Hartlepool, who are not doing that well.
Now you're saying Hartlepool aren't that good and that it's nothing to do with us being able to compete with sides above us. That's directly contradictory.
What I pointed out was the majority of people wanting to see the team you listed were just being reactionary. Whenever things go wrong, people call for youth team/absent first teamers to start. Players who aren't playing are instantly regarded as being better than they actually are, because they're less associated with the on-field failings. This is what's going on with those Pools fans you referenced.50 years wrote: I also pointed out those names were in the team that the Hartlepool fans on the bunker were mentioning for there team this Saturday, not mine, that is all, as I also mentioned I have no idea of there team or capabilities as my focus is on supporting "my" team in anyway I can. You clearly have more knowledge of Hartlepool team so bow to your additional knowledge on the capabilities of their players. May be there fans are not sure either?
That's what led to you getting it wrong on the team you listed.
As for knowing more about Hartlepool, it took me 10 minutes of Googling to find those stats out. It only takes a bit of effort to inform yourself on a topic you don't know much about

Now if I'd called someone an idiot unprovoked, the board would have gone into meltdown.banktopp wrote:Seconded. Like your posts 50 years, just ignore the resident idiot.don'tbuythesun wrote:50 years, please....just don't ...!!
The great irony is, in throwing a playground insult my way, you're actually ignoring your own advice. Kind of....idiotic really.
But there's no need for you and don'tbuythesun to get yourselves so worked up. The exchange between myself and 50 Years was perfectly civil and on-topic.

See how easily I was dragged in. I'm not worked up just trying to avoid yet another tedious, endless trail of argumentative diatribe.

Re: Hartlepool match confirmed at BM
Out of interest was Miller Poolie’s number 5 on the night, I thought that he was the stand out player on the night50 years wrote:There were a few people near me at the match who were saying that the team Hartlepool played against us were second string or youth, and I had no idea to be honest, so checked line up on the video today. Also on the Poolie bunker I looked to see what a couple of there fans were wanting on the team sheet for this Saturdays game against Braintree:-
Played at Darlo:-
Catterick - Not mentioned
Amos - First team
Cunningham - First Team
Kioso - First team
Miller - Not mentioned
McLaughton - On the bench (although moved to York now)
Newton - Not mentioned
Muir - On the bench
Hawkes - First team
Kitching - On the bench
Hawkins - First team
So the team we played had a fair number of what the pool supporters would expect to see in their first team squad for Saturdays game, not exactly second string!! And they are full time and the league above, and a game we should have won - not too bad then to be honest. Although a win may have brought some of those "floating" supporters back for the next game which is the real disappointment for me (lost opportunity).

Dial A for the Arena. If they don't pick up, then dial A for Ainge.HarryCharltonsCat wrote:Is Ainge your new Brodie?Ghost_Of_1883 wrote:Yes we need someone more dynamic, to play next to Ainge.

Re: Hartlepool match confirmed at BM
According to my new found poolie friends, they are likely to go part-time next season if they don't make the play-offs, as they will lose there parachute payments next season.
Re: Hartlepool match confirmed at BM
Pete - Can't see that happening for next year, (may be the year after if they don't get promoted), given that they have a lot of off field stuff to sort with the former manager Money and it would be very difficult to get promotion with a part time team and that is their focus with everything that has been said. Think there fans would go into melt down if it happened next year.
Still I have been wrong before
