Good news. Players like him keep the local connection alive. He's due a solid season too.

Signed a new deal but no loan signings to provide adequate support up front or from midfield. TW has put his rose tinted glasses back on stating what a great team we have?

I've changed my opinion about Harvey and he's now showing great promise. Wonder how long a contract he has signed?

The problem is Pete our fans don't give players chance to improve they think one bad game and they are Shite .. I will admit I don't think he is the answer to our striker problems BUT I'm glad he is improving and hopefully will continue to do so

Your so right. If a new player doesn't hit the ground running, then they are fans who will right them off almost straight away.

Smart move to protect one of our unpolished diamonds. Really need to clone him several times over to fill the voids which have appeared in our squad. One thing is certain, HS can't get us out of this predicament alone, we need to recruit well and support the team.

Unless we bring a striker in Saunders is not going to get us the goals to keep us in this league.

I like Saunders a lot. He is the only player in the team at the moment that looks properly sharp.

Totally unconnected, he reminds me a little of the actor Dave Franco.

Probably for the best to get him sold.

Do you actually think anybody would want to buy him?

Total agreement. Not "So Young" Harvey will never develop into a potent striker at this level or above. He is a headless chicken.

Unless we are paying him £10 per week, extending his contract was being frivolous with the clubs funds.

Should any club be desperate, or stupid to offer a fee snap their hands off.

I think that most strikers hit there peak in the mid to late 20's, Harvey has a few years to develop. Think he will do it but needs service. Think Leicester had a similar situation with a lower league player they took on as well - think he turned our ok!!

Saunders looks to me to have the right stuff but it's very hard for a prospect in a poor team. I remember watching Curtis Main in a rotten line up during Colin Todd's tenure. You could see how good he was but his quality was dragged down by poor balls and people not seeing what he was doing. I don't say Saunders is that good but if he could get up and away he could enjoy playing and have a decent career. It's not fair to moan when he can't do it on his own.

Clearly I have hit a nerve there Tezza for some reason, by mentioning something I believe to be accurate. From your response you clearly don't agree

I went to Chester with a mate who has been involved in non league football for many years. One criticism he made was that the midfield repeatedly failed to see good forward passes which were open to them and that Harvey was making runs which should have led to the ball being played through for him but that just wasn’t happening. A forward with pace can ove along the line and get into position to break forward but if the pass doesn’t come, or doesn’t come at the right time we will not find out how good he is or can be.

Hate to spoil the near hero worship of some for Harvey, but outside of decent pace I see little other deft football skills. Defenders simply seem to take two steps further up the pitch to neutralise him.
He certainly appears to pose little physical threat to defences.

I am not doubting his commitment and effort, its the end product, or lack of it that is frustrating. As for trying to compare him with Vardy.. really.. imagination stretcher there

I stand to be proven wrong given he now appears to be our main strike weapon, particularly given Ainge immobility and poor fitness.

If we did not offer Harvey a contract, he could have walked away from this dire predicament the club is in and we would have no fit centre forward to field on Saturday. At least this gives other lads in the Academy one example of being rewarded by the club although I trust it isn't some outlandish £££££ per week.

Saunders has scored 5 goals in 10 starts + 7 sub appearances this season. So roughly 1 in 3. Not a world beater, but a decent enough record and clear improvement from last season.

Walked away to where ???

I do not buy using Harvey as an example to what can be achieved by signing up to the DFC Academy as a huge incentive, perhaps I have missed something ?

I doubt given that we are near "fire sale" stage that the club will be paying any extravagant amounts to extend existing players contracted salaries.

Lets take his overall performance since debut in January 2017 as a true reflection of his worth , rather than being selective with the stats. Prolific would not be a word that sprung to mind.

As I said , I stand to be proven wrong. He now himself in the place he apparently always wanted to be, there will be no hiding, he can be judged much better as to his real worth between now and season end.
