Re: The FA Cup banana skins....
Home draw is a big advantage. Bradford may be third in league but we put paid to second in the league on Saturday.
Bradford's away form is hardly promotion form as they have let in more goals than anyone else in the league. Styche, Ainge, Saunders fill your boots.

For fluck sake.
It’s not unwinnable, but it could have been a *lot* easier, and I can’t imagine it’ll be a big crowd either.

Yes it's not ideal, but I doubt Bradford PA will be too happy either.

Possible date change due to the Egg chasers playing at home, so watch this space possible Friday or Sunday game

Aren't Darlington required by the FA to have primacy over the Rugby club in respect of fixtures?

Also very strangely, it seems that Saffron Walden Town/ St Ives v Grantham was in the Northern sector of the draw. Saffron Waldon is south of Cambridge

"At a meeting held at the Grammar School on Friday last - Mr Phillip Wood M.A., in the chair - it was resolved to form an Association Football Club for Darlington and neighbourhood. The opinions of those present were so unanimous as to the desirability of this step, that a committee was formed to complete the organisation of the club, and Mr Craven, 17, Garden Street, was appointed secretary pro tem." - The Northern Echo, Monday 23rd July 1883

Re: The FA Cup banana skins....
If the game has to be changed, I think a Sunday afternoon would bring in a better crowd than a Friday night.
Re: The FA Cup banana skins....
Really? I'd think the opposite. Friday night crowds generate a lively atmosphere, and people can make a night of it. I sort of hope we do the Friday, and make the tickets cheap to entice people in.
Sunday, when people have to go to work the next day, invariably a chunk of the fans are hungover, the Premier League is on TV.... Friday definitely the better option imo.

I suspect Bradford would not agree to a Friday night as it will be more difficult for the players as they would need time off work to get up for the game.
Perhaps the solution would be for BBC to select it for live coverage and then clubs have no say over it being moved - whoops silly suggestion, it doesn't involve salford and its too far from BBC in Manchester
Re: The FA Cup banana skins....
Granted I don't know where any Bradford PA players live, but it's only an hour and a bit up the road. Not like it's 2/3 hours drivespen666 wrote:H1987 wrote:Really? I'd think the opposite. It will be if we do the sensible thing and charge a fiver with kids for a quid... flood the advertising across town so that everyone knows and we may get a fair few thousand... rather that than 900 paying full priceH1987 wrote:For fluck sake.

Re: The FA Cup banana skins....
Surely we'd need a full house to get pretty much the same money as if we charged full price and only got 900 in? There's no way we'd get that many.SwansQuaker83 wrote:It will be if we do the sensible thing and charge a fiver with kids for a quid... flood the advertising across town so that everyone knows and we may get a fair few thousand... rather that than 900 paying full priceH1987 wrote:For fluck sake.

I thought FA Cup games the gate recites were shared between the clubs, I could be wrong though.shawry wrote:Surely we'd need a full house to get pretty much the same money as if we charged full price and only got 900 in? Re: The FA Cup banana skins....
The volume of people attending would most likely not make up for the loss from the 900/1k. Not saying we shouldn't do it's an attempt to bring people in and back other weeks, however not convinced people would then come back the next week for £14 etc.SwansQuaker83 wrote:It will be if we do the sensible thing and charge a fiver with kids for a quid... flood the advertising across town so that everyone knows and we may get a fair few thousand... rather that than 900 paying full priceH1987 wrote:For fluck sake.

The two clubs have to agree the price anyhow and I believe there is a minimum level set by the FA on cost which will most likely remove any chance of an offer. In fairness to BPA an offer just reduces the chance of gate receipts for them, it may increase but not guaranteed.
Would love a Friday night game if possible but obviously this relies on the Rugby Club and the two football clubs agreeing to that.

Re: The FA Cup banana skins....
After certain costs yes they are, hence the price having to be agreed. Why would BPA want to risk a guaranteed say 3.5k to help us make the game cheaper for about 30 BPA fans.poppyfield wrote:I thought FA Cup games the gate recites were shared between the clubs, I could be wrong though.shawry wrote:Surely we'd need a full house to get pretty much the same money as if we charged full price and only got 900 in? I think Salford done this the other year and had to take the hit, paying gate receipts on full price and then giving those who claimed it the cash back.

Remember 500 club members and ST have to pay on the gate, which always means a reduced crowd whatever admission prices are charged.

thought the F.A set the price for cup ties? isnt that why some of the Northern League teams charge more for the preliminary rounds than league games?

FA only set prices if clubs can't agree themselves
NL clubs ( and other lower ranked clubs) usually only charge higher prices where there opponenets are higher ranked and opponents want more from gate receipts than would be obtained at NL price levels.
