Agreed, not a chance Tamworth would let Styche speak to us otherwise.al_quaker wrote:Yeah - I imagine it's all done but we've agreed to put the paperwork through after the game so that he doesn't play tomorrow. Feeling much more positive after the previous 3/4 signings.

Indeed - we've added some height, some pace, some width, and now (imminently) a presence up front. Wright has pretty quickly addressed our obvious points of weaknessDarlofan97 wrote:

I see Jon Wornsop has been released by York City following the signing of Bartlett. Fairly good (and experienced) goalkeeper at this level. I wonder if Wright & White will be interested?
Re: Styche is our new striker!
He's hardly going to say "Darlington offered him £100 a week more, plus a car share to training" to be fair.leedscol wrote:Tamworth manager “blown out of the water “ by our offer. What?
Re: Styche is our new striker!
And we should really be able to blow Tamworth out of the water for one of their best players. Our budget is very good for this level, no matter how much our previous manager wanted people to believe otherwise.
Re: Styche is our new striker!
Can't imagine we've ever had a Gibraltar international player in our squad...

Scott Wiseman (although not sure he was capped at the time).LoidLucan wrote:Can't imagine we've ever had a Gibraltar international player in our squad...

Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Seems to be the suggestion, would be strange without bringing another one in, IMO.

Offer made a couple of weeks ago I believe, should be reasonable money that I would imagine Tommy will reinvest.Darlofan97 wrote:Seems to be the suggestion, would be strange without bringing another one in, IMO.

Fair enough, certainly not as much of a rash decision as some will make out if you look at the stats.super_les_mcjannet wrote:Offer made a couple of weeks ago I believe, should be reasonable money that I would imagine Tommy will reinvest.Darlofan97 wrote:Seems to be the suggestion, would be strange without bringing another one in, IMO.

It looks as if it could be Cartman.

His latest tweet would suggest that....
Re: Styche is our new striker!
No doubt many people will be gutted about this because for some reason he could do no wrong - but - let's be realists here, Evostik is his level. There's no shame in that and I'm sure he'll start banging them in again once he is back playing there.

Re: Styche is our new striker!
Putting the finances aside, if it's Styche in, Cartman out, that's an upgrade.
Given our previous for overspending, I was sceptical about signing Styche, although seeing a departure allays that a bit.
Better hope Styche doesn't get injured and isn't as inconsistent as his previous record suggests.
And if Styche starts slowly, brace yourselves for the "Cartman would've scored that" and the "We should never have let Carts go" comments.

Re: Styche is our new striker!
I'm mystified as to how a part time player can manage a 6 hour round trip to train and play (he's listed on Wiki as being from Sutton Coldfield). Presumably that's at least twice a week.

I doubt if one level different in the pyramid makes the difference between banging them in and scoring none. If he starts banging them in elsewhere it's probably because they play a system that suits his abilities.Quakerz wrote:No doubt many people will be gutted about this because for some reason he could do no wrong - but - let's be realists here, Evostik is his level. Cartman will always stick cryptic tweets out to get people talking.
Re: Styche is our new striker!
One level in the pyramid often does make a difference between scoring and not scoring and the jump between the Evostik and NLN is quite large.wizardofos wrote: I doubt if one level different in the pyramid makes the difference between banging them in and scoring none. As for the "system that suits his abilities" I'm sick of hearing that one from all of his sycophants. He wasn't scoring when Beck was the focal point and his job would have been to get onto his knock downs, and he hasn't been scoring since we've tried playing a more passing game. So which system does suit his abilities then?
No, it's not the system, it's just he's less effective at this level against better defenders - no shame in that, it is what it is. Every player has their level.
