England: Whose fault is it?

Post by Feethams 1966 » Tue Jun 28, 2016 1:33 pm

What with the shock over the brexit vote, the PM resigning and Labour in a mess, it just feels like everything's in meltdown at the moment, and England's shock exit from the Euros against Iceland just seems to put the cap on it.
But as this is a football site I'll stick to the footie and just ask where people think the blame lies. Is it the fault of the players, or the manager? Or both? I won't ask who should take over as manager as that's the subject of another thread. But whose fault is it for the shame, hurt and embarassment last night?

The players.Every fucking last disgraceful one of them. They all play week in week out in the (supposed) best league in the world and should have been able to sort that game out without any input from the gormless twat on the sidelines. We need to find a Butcher,Adams,Robson type captain instead of someone more bothered about their fucking image rights.Fuming.

I blame the EU. Freedom of movement means any old Carlos Kickaball can come over here keeping our own homegrown players stuck in B teams hoping for a game in the JPT!!! :D

There's been a lot said and written about this in the past 24 hours but Chris Waddle summed it up best. Not only is his rant very funny, it's also very perceptive.

It's Iceland's fault. Their football team had the cheek to play better than ours. How dare they.

Seriously I gave up caring about that shower of shite years ago, light years behind half a dozen European teams in all departments.

The only good thing is Woy's gone, if we'd scraped past Iceland and lost gracefully v France he might have clung on for at least 2 more years of shiteness.

I sound like I care, I don't really

Why were you all so surprised? It's a process of gradual improvement. We got out of the group this time, so we should win it about 2048. Unfortunately, I won't be around to see it.

while the players do not escape blame it all stems from the manager.

You look at Conte at Italy - possibly one of their worst squads on paper in terms of stars etc - but he has found a way for them to play and be effective and win games.
