I have always thought that you were a sad b****** - but this really confirms it.

The greatest sporting event in the world - happening in our Country for the only time in our lifetime - and you find it painfully dull.

I really do feel sorry for you.

Get off your high horse. You expect someone to force themselves through every athletics event simply because it's in England, even if they find most of it dull?

I love football and so will watch every World cup etc. but I'd understand if someone else couldn't stand it. I certainly wouldn't preach to them vehemently if it was held in England, or judge them because of this.

I am personally with Jazz on this one: I find the vast majority of the olympics dull and so will only watch bits and pieces of it. If it was in England again "in my lifetime" then I still wouldn't watch it; and certainly not because I might be dead next time. That fact doesn't make me less of a person than you or anybody else so shut your face.

Actually, on that point - the fact that we're mortal and will one day be dead and being experiencing NOTHING for immortality is all the more reason not to bother watching the Olympics if you find it dull.

Do something you enjoy with what little life you have left. :D

I tell you what, I said during the tour we were looking at Gold and Silver in the time trial, and we weren't far off. Wiggo smashed the field and Froome was his ususal composed, solid self.

Wiggo will be knighted this year, if not it's a travesty. Most successful British Olympian ever. First ever British TDF winner. As a keen cyclist myself, I'm extremely excited by this.

I'd say a better one to watch than the road race as well, unless you had a ticket for Box Hill where they'd have passed you 8 times.

You got lucky mate - you saw a bit of British sporting history today.

Without a doubt, the last few posts from Spyman and jazz, show how totally out of touch they are with sports fans in the rest of Great Britain are.

Where I live, we have Union Jacks flying - on cars and on houses.

When we won our first Gold today we had it live on radio and everyone cheered and when Wiggins won, the whole office went up in the air.

Sad Bastards - Get behind Team GB.

Oh you mean the last few posts where Jazz said he'd actually been at an Olympic event today, and Spyman commented on what a historically significant event it would have been to witness?

Out of touch sods. How bloody dare they!

So, "its shite being british" according to you.

It's shite that we have kids in this Country that are so appallingly ignorant and unpatriotic.

No doubt they will grow up to be like Jazz - unfortunately.

Sorry, what?

Please read my posts and tell me, word for word, where I have not 'got behind team GB', or how I am 'out of touch with sports fans'.

Do I need to show you up for speaking out of your arsehole again, or are you going to deliver the apology I deserve for you flinging around these baseless accusations? The only 'vaguely' anti-Olympic comment from me was telling someone who doesn't enjoy the Olympics to spend their time doing something they do enjoy.

Everything else I have posted is pro-Olympics and pro-TeamGB.

Probably not - you never apologised for Quakerz for his 'spreading rumours', did you? You'll just disappear from the thread until all is forgotten. Not a bad thing I suppose.

p.s. The footy team looked stronger again tonight against a very decent (on paper) Uruguay side. Bellamy in particular.

Would those be the rumours spread by Ray Simpson, not me? That I just happened to post on the board, and which turned out to be true in the end? Those rumours?

No, no he didn't apologise for that.

I must admit I do enjoy the cycling. The fact it was in the Olympics is neither here nor there to me, I do a bit of it myself so I like to watch it. Got a great spot on the Teddington Park Road to see them come past too.

What, a young, handsome, witty fellow with a great career and even better hair?

Better that than an abject failure like you, the shame of his entire family and despised by all he encounters.

USA won reasonably easily. It was strange being at a game with no chanting or swearing. And the refereeing was abysmal. Quite enjoyed it though, and I think USA might win gold.

Aye the ref was a shocker. Decent enough day out I reckon, the bairn enjoyed it. Quite surprised to see a few Americans there, I wanted to check their teeth.

Unbelievable scenes tonight. 6 gold medals in a day is amazing. Can we keep hold of 3rd place in the medal table? Would be a great achievement if we can!

Couldn't give a monkey about most of these ra ra public school minority sports. Over 4 out of 9 medal winners went to public school. This whole whole thing comes across like an ivy league university sports day. I mean how many working class people do rowing, equestrian even tennis and we are sitting here working class people fawning in admiration at our upper class peers. These people don't give a flying f*ck about you DC nor should you about them. The average working class lad couldn't even afford to engage in most of these sports nor would they necessarily be welcome. The teary eyed losers, the crappy GB thing like a night at the proms (do it for you athletes please not me), the sycophantic legacy nonsense which won't materialise apart form the big multi-nationals counting their coppers - ask Sheffield and Beijing, the London centric focus and worst of all Cameron with his henchman Johnson and Coe manipulating this event to deflect attention from the more pressing problems. If this wasn't bad enough the desperate attempt to try and convey the redundant Olympian spirit when this event basically sold its soul to corporate interests many years ago.

I even heard one journalist sycophantically describe it as the healing process after the London riots eh? Sadly, after the Olympics there will still be kids going back to their no go deprived estates with hardly any prospect of finding EET. 2 weeks of pure self-indulgent jingoism but totally disingenuous. Give me the raw beauty of the Northern League anyday.
