You mean this Kevan Smith?

Obviously I'm extremely deflated at the demise of Darlington Football Club. Darlington were the town's team and now they are not. The bottom line is that they are no longer a club playing out of their own town. They might as well be called something completely different now - Durham Rangers or something... This is a club with history effectively folding. What is happening is that there will be a new club using the Darlington name.

No thanks.

Well said Robbie. Unfortunately Kevan showed his true colours there .... or lack of should I say?

Was disappointing and ill thought out comment which reflects no little bitterness.

Kevan .... Darlo will never die my friend .... and as tiny as we are just now, we will ALWAYS be bigger than you .... we certainly ALWAYS were!

Not sure, but I wouldn't be too surprised if he no longer is.

Aye, he has an honourary position, not sure how involved he is.

Hopefully this is just a temporary blip and he'll be back onboard the DFC bus soon.

No thanks.

I find that comment insulting to every Darlington supporter who has stuck by their club, supported it through the last 7 or 8 months, and continues to stick by it.

I know kev thinks the world of the club and of the effort thats been put in to ensure we still have one,im pretty sure this comment was made out of frustration on a pretty sad day for the club

Then ask him, politely, to rescind the comment and make his true feelings known, I'm quite sure we'll all feel a tad warmer towards him for it....
....let's be honest there's been lot's of things said by a lot of people over the last few months....

....Our heads are now up and looking forward, not down at the dirt....

Apparently he thinks the world of the 'old' club, and doesn't accept the continuation of that old club.

In my eyes he is still the man who captained this club to a double promotion, but he seems to to see it that way.

Although I wouldn’t class myself as his biggest fan, we have all said and done things we later regret, as long as he does regret the comment I would have no problem with him still being involved with the club.

Many of you will know that I count Kevan as one of my best friends and I want to spell something out, that comment that was attributed to him he did not make! He is and will always be 110% Darlo, anyone who saw him play will know how many times he played with injuries and how he led from the front. What he did say was he was gutted about the club and what had happened, he was trying to also put together a deal with a 3rd party to buy the club but like us got nowhere with RS that was his frustration. He is on holiday at the moment so cant defend himself thus I am. He has always worked tirelessly with me on sorting my charity football, golf stuff and indeed is talking to players I don't know for the game in Sept so give the guy a break, he will be at games at Bishop when he is not working for the press association.
