However.... http://www.spennymoortownfc.co.uk/forum ... f=2&t=2169

We expect to make the announcement about the plans etc this week once the details are finalised. Any other bits of outstanding news will be included.

As for Sol Campbell - well its good publicity for us - but thats as far as it goes - it was news to the Chairman when I broke it to him half an hour ago.

Maybe he's signing for a different Northern League club?

I never used to worry about our rivals for promotion (and their players) when we were vying with Peterborough and MK Dons etc at the top of League 2 .... I'm certainly not going to start worrying about them now!

I was at Sainsburys getting my cheap petrol and I can confirm I also saw Sol Campbell wandering around the Heritage Park car park wearing a Darlo top.

Why was Sol Campbell wearing no trousers?

Was it the 2004/05 kit that was a classic?

It absolutely was.

Sol was also the age he was in 2004/05, so what a signing! Fits in nicely with Hignett, Petta, Armstrong, Wijnhard, Fleming and...Close.

He, along with several other ex-England internationals, Brian McBride, and Claudio Caniggia, has just signed for Wembley FC. Apparently. :?

Some sort of FA Cup publicity stunt by Budweiser, I think? El Tel's been there since March.

EDIT: Ah, Wembley FC are sponsored by Budweiser as well.

Just saying.

it's all a bit embarrasing i think.

Having seen some of these players play in the soccer aid games and things they are so painfully slow I can actually see them getting trounced by even half decent non-league side.

hate to think how much it costs to get a player to come out of retirement for the good of grassroots football.

I think it's a shame how Venables has gone from the guy who did a decent job and was a bit of a national hero at the time of the Euros in '96 to the embarrassment he is now.
