The plan at the moment is to explore all possibilities, that's where it's at. You need to do groundwork before you can be sure it's the right route to pursue. It doesn't mean there is a firm plan, it just means that the plan is in it's infancy. A lot will also ride on the appeal so until that is finalised you need to keep a range of options open.

A bit foolish to say we will be back in the town in a year then, of all possibilities hadn't even been explored then presumably they didn't even know that being back in a year was a possibility?

I believe the quote was "the aim is to be back in the town in a year"

That is correct.

But don't let that stop people from distorting things slightly.

What people read or hear is usually different from what they think they've read or heard.

Quote from 1883 board on 3rd May - 'It certainly wasn't a decision that we took lightly. Nor the decision to go out of town for a year. We agonised and spent countless hours trying to make the whole situation balance with the money and resources we had available. Sadly it just wasn't possible, so we had to take some pretty difficult decisions in order to secure the future'.

Perhaps you'd like to tell us how you think you read or heard the above quote from an 1883 board member!

We either work together and focus our energy towards making this club prosper and getting it back to the town as quickly as possible, or we sit nit-picking, twisting, moaning and trying to create a them vs us whilst the club implodes.

I asked the question some time back whether we as fans had the mentality and focus to make this work.

IT'S OUR CHOICE.

Not quite.

There are no doubts that DFC will be back in Darlington for the start of the 2013/14 season. We are confident about that and we stick by that comment - 7 May 2012.

My apologies. I didn't intend to distort things, that was just as I remembered it.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.

Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

Fair enough, i missed that personally, dangerous statement to make imo.

My above point still stands though, the more people pull in the same direction, the more chance we have of achieiving it.

Completely agree, and I've said it further up the thread. Regardless of how realistic it is to be playing back in Darlington in a year or so, or whether it was a silly thing for someone from 1883 to say, it will never happen if we don't all get behind the club in its current situation.

Yes, if that is so, then it was a very bold statement to make. We need to know at least an outline plan for our return to town.

I agree, we all need to pull in the same direction. Now more than ever.

Well yeah, but i don't see how anyone can expect them to be any further on, there isn't a magic solution and i don't think 1883 are proclaiming there is.

Well maybe they shouldn't have proclaimed that we'll be back in a year. I wasn't "expecting" anything by the way - was just telling it like it is.

The ONLY way we will be back in town within 2 years, is if we are at a high enough level with enough money behind us, to take a short term lease on The Arena, if it's still fit for purpose.

As for the opinion expressed about Darlo fans… meh. It’s just the same old thought-averse guff that every other pointing, gawping, Northern League villager with an axe-to-grind / pitchfork-to-shake has cobbled together about us.

When you look into the NCE it does look like a significantly better run organisation than the Royston Vasey Invitational Clown Challenge that we've ended up in.
