A few people I know who can only get to 10-12 matches a year. Is it worth looking at offering a flexi ticket for say 10 matches. The overall cost would be less than the price of 10 single match tickets and would allow the fan to watch any 10 matches of their choice over the season. You would probably have to make the offer after the season starts so as not to affect season tickets, but because it's not restrictive you might get a few takers.

This is planned, and was discussed today with the club :)

Great minds and all that. Well I can guarantee a Newcastle loving fan, whose only lived in Darlington for 6 months, will be getting one of these.

Although nowt's finalised and all that, due to other (probably vastly unpopular decisions) which will be taken on tickets due to costs, it's likely that these will also be transferable which might well increase their popularity...

Do you not think that introducing a flexi ticket at the same time as season tickets will put a big hole in season ticket sales, and therefore up front income?

If I'm told I can have a season ticket for, say, £230 but there is a flexi ticket option for 10 games at ,say, £120 - with 3 people to pay for and not sure how the season will go, which one will I pick?

I don't really think flexi tickets would increase crowds, that comes mainly through on the day floaters jumping on the success bandwagon.

As for the opinion expressed about Darlo fans… meh. It’s just the same old thought-averse guff that every other pointing, gawping, Northern League villager with an axe-to-grind / pitchfork-to-shake has cobbled together about us.

When you look into the NCE it does look like a significantly better run organisation than the Royston Vasey Invitational Clown Challenge that we've ended up in.

I don't know how representative I am, but living down South, I only get to a couple of home games a season, making up the remainder on way games. A season ticket is always going to be out of the question for me, as I'd need to sell a kidney to afford the trains - I'd get a flexi-ticket though, and happily sacrifice some away games in return for getting up to the Arena a bit more often.

Really could have done with that this season actually, would have saved me that god-awful afternoon at Bath.

Like I say though, I don't know how representative I am.

So that these flexi tickets don't impact upon ST sales if in were the club I would forget about them for now. Maybe introduce them 3/4 games into the season. Although we have fans who genuinely cannot make every game due to work/their location we don't want to tempt current ST to buy flexi tickets instead.

Timing for this is important, and we are aware that it may impact season ticket sales.

Notts County do an exiles season ticket, entitling you to a certain amount of games if you live a certain distance away. I know something like that would help me a lot, as I'm in two minds about buying another ST because of the distances it involves to even semi-justify the outlay. Might be something worth looking at?

That said, having an ST almost forces me to come to some home games when otherwise I might leave it.

There we go - they're actually withdrawing it next season to replace it with a membership card, but it looks to me like they're doing that to maximise capacity at games as they're getting good crowds now. I don't see it being an issue for us, somehow.

Yeah, that'd be perfect, except the having to buy tickets in advance malarky.

Given this is targeted at live-away fans, is there a potential tie-up with DAFTS here - at the very least, for cross-promotion to raise awareness on both sides?

Spot on Q it's suicide to offer a flexi ticket from the start of the season, I hope 1883 take notice of this
