I find it amazing that so much time and money is wasted on the pathetic debate about gay marriage. Let them do it, what does the church think will happen? I find it more that a little hypocritical that a group can talk about morality after All the pedophile scandal that follows them.

If the church is successful in blocking gay marriages then I'm going to insist the local priests give up cakes and donuts when I'm on a diet.

Churches shouldn't be made to marry gays because its against there faith. You wouldn't make a Muslim eat bacon (although it would be funny). But then on the other hand gay people should be able to get married if they want to. There's no chance cathlic churches will marry gays you've got more off a chance to bone the head nun. I can't tell what's going to happen because you've got the right to follow your religion, so gays can't get married. But there's equality rights/ laws.

The law changes aren't suggesting that they should.
The debate all hangs on who "owns" marriage; the state or the church.

The state owns marriage as evidenced by the fact it must be registered at a registrars!

Simple!

Also the church has no moral right to condemn homosexuality as evidenced by their numerous gay scandals! FACT!!!

I thought Christianity was supposed to be about tolerance and forgiveness? Not poisonous intolerance and and discrimination. Seems I was wrong.

problem is the government wanting to make it ok for gays to get married in a religous setting, thats bulshit, let the church do their thing, change the name of civil partnerships to marriage but ya cant force religions to do this, bet they wont make them get married in mosques etc, freedom of religion goes both ways

The Government don't want to do this. In fact it's the exact opposite. There will continue to be a ban on religious gay marriage, even if the church itself is happy to conduct the ceremony. Some religions, such as Quakers and Unitarians, would like to perform same sex marriages but the new legislation won't permit it.

Actually the new testament mentions gays (or rather the act of same sex lovin') three times.

Scared is a bit much, yes, but the unsavoury and very vocal minority of Islam carry a lot more influence and make a lot more noise than their equivilents in other mainstream religions. Theres something to be wary of there.

Seeing as you can't get married in a mosque anyway, it's hardly likely, is it?

Just your comments really.
You think it would be funny to make a Muslim eat pork and yet "you'd never do it" but it would be funny wouldn't it...

Hmm...

What is there to be scared about Islam? And how can someone be scared of a religion? :eh:
