What a great day for a training bike ride, about mid range, 20 miles.
Building up strength & stamina, plenty of hill climbs to get me acclimatised to the 'Lincolnshire terrain'.
Fundraising going well too, over £250, including a good wedge from RS.
Really getting into the swing now, not set a target, but still 3 weeks to go.

I haven't said anything wrong I answered Quakerz question.

Quackers:
It's not bike wars, or who will raise the most, but it is to do with helping to #SAVEDARLO.
Those who can, do - those who can't be bothered, sit on their fat arses and do nothing!
Ring a bell does it?

I am not doing this to see who can raise the most money. I am doing it for:
- Darlington FC.
- To the people who doubt/hate me.
- To prove to myself that I can finish it.
- To raise for funds for my beloved club.
- To raise awareness about my club with my idea of the bike ride.

Well said, AP, echoing my sentiments - ignore the knockers, they're only jealous.

Is the money raised by snowscape going to buy shares under DUFF or his own name?

To be honest does it matter? As long as the money raised goes towards buying shares in DFC I dont give a hoot by which avenue. We need that totaliser rising

The_Naturist: If you look at www.blundelltosincil.co.uk it tells you where my fund-raising is going.
Anyway, I don't believe individuals benefit from owning one/two shares, you're just a voice in the wilderness, whereas, if you are a member of a collective, the better chance of having your voice heard.

I've helped the club how I can financially through buying shares even though I've got better stuff to spend money on, I've put money in buckets and in DUFF, attended all matches in administration, attended the meeting that only 100 or so others did at the Art Centre, and offered volunteer help on a couple of occasions that wasn't needed.
My conscience is clear, so no need to get all pious about the massive sacrifices you are making in undertaking an easy bike ride that needs zero training - HOWEVER - well done on the funds you and Andy are raising!

Just back from a modest training ride, 10 miles, in high gear. Going for the full monty on Wednesday.
Re: www.blundelltosincil.co.uk
Well done (to both you and Andy) for going out and doing some fundraising for the club. It looks like you might get close to £1000 between the 2 of you, which is great.

I wouldn't do the full Monty, it's going to be a tad chilly.

Snowscape.
Has Raj Singh sponsored you??
It's just that you hint at this in your original post and I would be interested to know if he has.
Good luck on your ride.

I wonder if Andy Park's birth star-sign makes him a Libran - indecisive!
6 weeks from announcing his idea of a sponsored bike ride, he still can't decide where to start from.

You're obviously not the most assertive yourself, considering you shamelessly ripped off his idea.
Re: www.blundelltosincil.co.uk
Got back from my training ride today, a corker, a monty & a half.
After discovering a brake malfunction on MERLIN, I decided to do the ride to Redcar on my old mountain bike. After MERLIN, it's like a tank, heavy & cumbersome. Anyway, it was a good workout, only had to walk up 2 hills (Leven Bank & Seamer) and took 5 hours. My wife wanted to see the vernal equinox high tide (supposed to be something special - not) and had driven there and brought the bike carrying rack, what a relief!
Fund-raising, and taking the DFC plight to a wider audience, is going well - Magic 1170 are featuring it every week on their 'What's on' slot - I have forwarded the story 'PENSIONER GETS ON HIS BIKE TO SAVE QUAKERS' to Fourfourtwo, The Sun, Mirror & Daily Mail.
I organised a feature for AP in the Grimsby Telegraph, and also forwarded the Echo article to the Lincolnshire Echo, and also to the NLP.
I am trying to get a slot on the BBC morning news sofa, to take the story to a national level.
