The lead to leave is approaching 200k.
Are there any more big London (remain-leaning) boroughs to come?

They scare me when then those results come in
Yes there'll be a few, but with a lead of nearly 500k and all of Scotland just about counted, I predict the leave campaign has won!!!!!!!!!!

Over half the areas have been declared. Durham will be a big leave vote when it is declared. The pound is collapsing down to just above 1.40 to the US$

It's been a long night, but well worth staying up for. The leave lead is now almost 800k. Farage looked like a right tit, nothing usual there then. Pound at it lowest against the dollar since 1985.

The BBC now declare the leave campaign has won. I'm off to bed for a couple of hours sleep.

The last 24 hours have been absolutely bonkers - the most amazing day I can remember.

I'm off for some kip now as well.

I'm back in love with you, England!

Scotland voted almost unanimously to remain while the council estate dwellers across the rest of the country got off their backsides and voted Britain out.

In the short term the pound looks gloomy but I expect it will pick up again over the coming weeks - not to the sort of level anyone hoping to get a good exchange rate for their holiday money would be happy with, but not so bad as it is right now.

I'll be happy with that. Swapped a good chunk the other day at 1.42 anyway.

Great day. Our currency has collapsed and I suspect this is the end of the UK as we know it!

Ah well scrub ourselves down there will be some testing times ahead. Especially as an employee of a Scottish bank.

Which way have NI gone?

It's now official, Leave have crossed the finish line. A great day for our country and democracy in general. Our kids and grandkids will thank us for this when the whole failed project falls to pieces. :D

Got to say I'm very pleased with the result.

Testing times ahead for the EU, less so for Britain... we can get back to leading the world again now. Maybe this will shake the EU back to it's roots.

Looks like us and Barclays have lost 30% of our value inside 20minutes, probably not a bad time to buy on the FTSE.

I was expecting a c.20% dive so this feels like the initial knee-jerk.

Just praying now that it will be Jamm's version of Brexit and not Henley's!

As things stand, I very much doubt the UK will take the free movement of people option.

I suppose that is my concern - what if more than 4.4% of the people who voted leave did so on the concept of entry into the EEA and with that free movement of people?

The result stands we leave the EU, fair enough lets make that work.

You can already see in this small population there are two very polar views on what the future model looks like. One says accept free movement of people, one says no free movement of people. Both those views are categorised in the leave vote.

I'd argue that a majority of the population wants to be in the EEA, and have the same principles of trade (goods/services/people) that exist now.

It is not realistic to think anyone who voted to leave did so believing free movement of people would be guaranteed within the terms of negotiation. Vote Leave said that the UK would likely have a bespoke deal with the EU, not a Norway or Switzerland one.

well Jamm did?

It's unrealistic to think that everyone did...not anyone did.

The way the Remain camp were going on, I half expected the Sun to not rise and the Moon to fall out of the sky after Brexit.

The EU is a good idea in principle but it wasn't implemented anywhere near how it should've been and it is undemocratic.

Thankfully we're out now.

and so start my attempts to convince my gf that we should move to Edinburgh!

Looks like I won't be the only one with similar thoughts. Morgan Stanley are the first investment bank to make there move it would appear - 2,000 jobs are being relocated from London to Frankfurt/Dublin.

No surprise that Nicola, Queen of Scots, is bleating about a second independence referendum. Why bother voting? Just let them go.

38% of Scottish voters voted Brexit - hardly unanimous Mr_Tibbs.

Me too. We won, which after 20 years of arguing for in one form or another is truly amazing, beating the FUD (Fear Uncertainty Doubt) of the Remain 'campaign'. But we have to respect the 48% who voted Remain, however misguided some may be (as on both sides - I can be diplomatic when I want to be!), and we have to take the practical option. We have time, we'll probably wait until after French and German elections next year before invoking Article 50 TEU, then there's two years to formally negotiate the future relationship. EEA via EFTA is best option to ensure smooth transition, then we can take it from there. In the meantime, it's time to celebrate....where's my Prosecco?!
