When I was a lad and lived in Kent, I went with my dad as a guest of a corporate sponsor of a Formula 1 team at Brands Hatch. Three drivers turned up in marquee where we were having lunch, James Hunt, Graham Hill and Emerson Fittipaldi. I chatted to them all.
Saw and spoke to Ian Botham in Sainsbury's in Darlo.

Is Alan Milburn famous? Showed him a powerpoint presentation about a leprechaun lost in Spain when I was 10 years old...no idea why the school let me do that.

Rest are pretty much all sports people beyond that, no idea how many you actually class as famous though - I reckon some of them would qualify for Big Brother or the jungle...

Used to play football on a friday night in a lads v dads game on Abbey field with James Morrison (probably more famous in Scotland than anywhere else!).

Have been referee/assistant referee and fourth official to teams managers by Dave Watson, Alan Stubbs, Duncan Ferguson, Trevor Sinclair and Peter Beardsley. Refereed on games where Lee Trundle and Jose Enrique have been playing - and been assistant referee to Paul Gascoigne.

Met Richie and Jonny Gray (Scotland rugby) in a club in Newcastle after their victory over Samoa.

Also bumped into Steven Fry in London one time, oh also ended up chatting to John Bishop at the bar after he did a show in Darlington must have been 5 years ago now (common topic being Liverpool).

You should post more often about that.

John Cooper Clarke - Bit addled, but full of very interesting stories.

Roy Keane - Arsehole (who'd have guessed it?)

Jim Howick (played Gerard in Peep Show) - Top bloke, bought us all a round when we were out for the Mrs' birthday, also happily posed for a photo with her which made her day as she's a big fan of the show.

Paul Gascoigne has referee'd? Or did he take it upon himself in a game you were Reffing?

I met Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Goofy at Disneyworld or Disneyland or both of those places.

I once walked past General Ratko Mladic pushing a baby stroller on Upper Street in London.

Oh, and Matt Berry called me a c*** by writing the word "c***" on an apple and handing it to me.

I was once on a plane to Nice and sat right behind Leslie Ash. Because I was getting off the plane, she asked if I had been sat behind her, when I said it was, she gave me a big smile.

Without wishing to be mean, I don't think Leslie Ash has much control over her facial expressions these days. She may not have been meaning to smile.

My late dad told me that when I was a young lad, we went to have a holiday on the Isle of Wight at Sandown. Me and a little girl played together on the sand and apparently we didn't have a stitch of clothing on, it was all very innocent. It turned out that the girl, was Fern Britton. So if I ever meet her I can say the last time I saw you, you had no clothes on!!!

Had a piss next to John Thomson a couple of months ago. Groovy!

Excess fared Simon day years ago. He wasn't happy especially when I told him he shouldn't rely on the Australian s*** fly.

I've met loads of famous people but that's cos I'm fabulous.

I stood shoulder to shoulder with Gordon Banks at Wembley . Yes that's the real one , arguably one of England's greatest goalkeepers . The rest of this is true but not so impressive.
When he was injured and gave up football Banks went to work with an insurance broker who took him to a symposium at Wemley Conference Centre ( next to the famous stadium ) I was there as it happened and there was a moment when I was passing through a doorway and he was going the other way . So yes I really did stand shoulder to shoulder with him in that moment !!
Somehow writing this has made me feel that I have been brought a little bit closer to Pete ........... I wonder why ?

I too once met Saville! I was up in Fort William at the Highland games - a member of one of the tug of war teams had gone missing and I got roped in :) to replace him. By good chance "my" team won and we all lined up to receive our winning bottles of whiskey, presented by Saville.

I got his autograph but subsequently lost it. After he did his celebrity bit he jumped into the back of a helicopter to join in with a Ben Nevis rescue mission - which I found a little bizarre. Imagine the frightened, cold disoriented rescuees - being presented with Saville " now then now then now then "

During my Bass playing days I met back stage Phil Lynott. He was charming, encouraging, interesting, everything I hoped he would of been

A pivotal moment I'm sure - this is indeed a vital piece of knowledge.

Once at the Le Mans 24 hour race we were invited to have a chat with Mario Andretti in his trailer. He was a cool dude.
Many years ago at Middlesbrough Town Hall crypt I was at the bar and a guy next to me offered to carry the tray of drinks to our table. He chatted for a bit then turned around and walked through the crowd and onto the stage. He strapped on a bass and spoke into the mic: ‘Hello, we are Motorhead…’
I also once had a chat with Pete Shelley (of the Buzzcocks) at Kirklevington Country Club.
And I remember when I was about 7 years old I was with my mum when she asked Nicholas Parsons for his autograph. I recall that he had been water-skiing!

Met Brian Johnson from AC/DC. Niall Quinn sat next to me on a flight back from Dublin. Had a long chat with Kevin Keegan on a train back from Newcastle when he was Fulham manager, Paul Bracewell and Phillipe Albert were with him but didn't say a word.
Alan Shearer sat across the aisle on a train to London and was as chatty as a mute having a particularly quiet day.

Probably saved yourself there like, could have turned into a 'felt like 5 hours' train journey if he had started droning on.

Did a trailer/advert with Helen Mirren, only a few seconds long but took about four hours to film. Chatted all the time with her, she was a very, very nice lady.

Met my hero Sir Geoffrey Boycott once at Lords. He chatted, I was lost for words!

Craig Charles told me to fook off once when I asked him for his autograph for my brother-in-law.

I spent 10 minutes with Amy Winehouse in a room alone but we didn't speak.

I once gave directions (actually I took him there) to Alex Stewart. I bored him silly talking cricket for about 10 minutes, I could tell he couldnt wait to get away.

I once said to Wayne Sleep, 'go home quietly before you make tomorrow's papers'. He went home quietly.

Spoke on the phone for about 5 minutes to Ronnie O'Sullivan on his 16th birthday, his Dad asked me to give him some advice!

There are others but they're not springing to mind.
