I'm not sure if you'd class Swann as a world class spinner, he was good, but world class not sure. Anyway let's see how England get on against South Africa this winter.

Swann was absolutely world class.

We're not far off a very good side. I'm expecting South Africa to beat us - they are comfortably the best side in the world, particularly in home conditions. However, I'm confident we will put up a decent fight. Spin won't play a huge role, so Moeen at 8 for that series will work very well I think. Hopefully Hales can have a decent series.

Swann not world class ?

And i seriously hope Hales is no where near the side !

Not that i'd suggest him coming back in but any idea how KP's getting on in south africa ? ;)

Who would you have opening then? I don't see Hales being the answer for the long term and I certainly don't think he'll be averaging 50+ as a Test player but he's the next cab off the rank (as Beefy says) and they've got to give him a go. After all, there's nobody else.

Adam Lyth, who should of played in the West Indies and Vs Pakistan.

Yes he had a torrid time vs Australia , but the lad can play.

We can all play, it doesn't mean any of us are any good.

He had to be dropped, he couldn't buy an innings against the Aussies. I'm a big fan of him though and I do believe he'll be back in the side one day. He has to play for Yorkshire though and regain his form and work on his deficiencies.

Failing that, Lees looks a talent. Or any other young opener on Yorkshire's books

Stuart Broads spell was a little bit good !

Stokes & Root are real bums on seats, empty the bar players.

How did KP get on in Australia ?
Regardless of who is running English cricket , KP SHOULD be in the t20 world cup squad.

Logically KP should be, so no doubt that'll mean he won't be picked by the cricketing hierarchy.

As per usual, England snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Impressive knock from Morris at the end of the game.

Talk about being hammered. All the momentum from the Test series win has now gone. South Africa were brutal.

Have to admit that was a top performance by the England team. But can they keep it going?

If you change your knickers as often as you change your mind, you must do a hell of a lot of washing.

So did England not play well to win the Ashes? Because you didn't comment there. Or on their ODI victories v New Zealand. Or on the test series win v South Africa - you didn't comment there either.

Face it Pete, you don't believe England are a bad team. You know deep down they're a good side.

Inconsistent yes, but definitely with talent and improving.

It's more you humiliated yourself in this thread over the Ashes and now you're keeping a year long thread going just to troll every time England lose.

The West Indies looked very impressive today and they proved that they are not a one man team. It should be a great final, with the West Indies probably favourites, as they have already beaten us earlier on in the tournament.

You have no loyalty to English cricket.
You'd rather we lose so you can post one of your 'I told you England are crap at cricket' comments.

Good to see England put up a bit of a fight, in a near record breaking loss to India. At least England have further test matches to put things right.

Well got up at 05-30 to watch the final day of the Test match in India and it was already over. The way England capitulated is worrying. To bat first and lose by more than one innings is embarrassing.
