Cricket World Cup

Post by Darlo_Pete » Mon Feb 16, 2015 5:01 pm

So who do you fancy to win it?

I can't see us getting beyond the quarter finals. You can't see beyond Australia, but I fancy as an outside bet New Zealand.

Afganistan didn't look very good today, but I guess just getting to the competition given the problems that country has at the moment.

I reckon New Zealand will be favourites when they play England in the early hours of tomorrow.

Absolutely pathetic, we should give up playing cricket internationally. McCullum was very entertaining though.

Can we overcome the might of Scotland this evening? Probably just by a small margin and well short of the crushing win we need.

We got the win, but the performance was far from impressive.

Hopefully we should qualify for the next round by winning two out of our next three games.

I think we could need to win all 3 just to qualify, depends on other results I guess.

Chris Gayle shows how to bat in an awesome display, if only we had a player like him.

Yet another pathetic display against Sri Lanka during the early hours, as we lose by 9 wickets. Can't see us getting to the quarter finals now.

If we win our next two we're in the quarters!

Drop Balance, Woakes and Broad.
Bring in Hales, Tredwell and Jordan.

It's wrong that a side that loses 3 games can still make the quarter finals. I agree with Tredwell, probably our most dangerous bowler.

The 50 over game has moved on - 5 years ago 300 was a decent/par score - now the Elite teams are hitting 350 + on a regular basis - we don't have the players yet to do this - and its looking like Bangladesh are going to beat us - so its back to the drawing board for us

Sadly as predicted we go out almost without a whimper to the might Bangladesh. Still what do you expect when we don't play one of our most effective bowlers Tredwell. Let's see if we can beat the minnows of Afganistan.

Surely Peter Moores' position is untenable?

Only after he's analysed all the data!

Sack all the management team (Jordan wasn't out btw).

I not sure I totally agree with that. There's not a lot to come in, Broad seems undropable at the moment; he should have been dropped three games ago.

Root (c) Ali, Buttler, Taylor (at 3) would be a base to move on from IMO.

So our cricket team emulate the achievements of their football counterparts by earning themselves a thoroughly deserved early holiday. On the bright side, that's the kid-on cricket out of the way and back to the real five-day stuff.

England head home in shame. Wonder how they'll get on against the West Indies after the World Cup has finished?

the blame lies with the ECB,as we dont play any 50 over games anymore until this coming season at county level.how are players going to learn when we play about 12 matches a year at international level.

New Zealand look the team to beat. Guptill was fantastic. You can't see past a New Zealand v Australia final.

England are almost like a third world country when it comes to cricket. The thing is that all the sides left in the World Cup have more than one player that is capable of scoring 150 to 200. We don't have such players, you might get a big innings once every few years, if we're lucky.

New Zealand get to the final after an epic game against South Africa. I reckon they'll beat India or Australia in the final for their first ever World Cup win.

I think you're right it'll be NZ v Oz, it'll be a cracker. I hope NZ win but one thing is for sure the cream has risen!
