On Saturday I was out with friends, and was chatting to the fiancée of one of them. He plays at step 5, so we had a good chat about what Darlo can expect next season, etc.

Anyway, conversation got on to Evans, as this lad was from Boston way. He played for Evans at Stamford back in the 90s and told me some very interesting stuff about Evans.

We will be playing at the arena again next season - fact.

Quakerz - if you actually attended games and spoke to people you might actually find our facts, rather than spreading s*** on this board.

My brother in law played under Evans as well. He's also told me some very interesting stuff :geek:

He was hated at that level too.

Well what I was told, is that the week after Evans left Stamford for Boston, the new manager came in and the team won.

After the match, the new manager came round and gave everyone a brown envelope. When the lads asked him what it was, he looked surprised, and said it was the win bonus from the chairman.

Allegedly, the Chairman had been giving Evans these same envelopes after each win, but they never made it as far as the players, who had no idea it even existed.

I also didn't realise that the brother of this same girl who I have known for years, has a pretty established career in semi-pro football and now plays for Harrogate alongside Alan White and Paul Heckingbottam!

Which one? The lad who plays at step 5 was keen, but pissed. As he lives Boston way, has a 4 year old kid and is getting married next year it's not likely.

The brother, unfortunately, is at his peak age and wouldnt drop to our level. He was with Alfreton previous to Harrogate.

Her brother who is (turns out its actually "was" now) at Harrogate is Richard Pell. Her fiancee is the one who played for Evans at Stamford and told me that story.
