Favourite Songs ever

Post by DL5 » Sat Jun 04, 2011 7:15 pm

Following on from the 15 yrs ago thread and the fact I'm bored I'd like to start a favourite songs ever thread (yes it's going to be a long summer)

Post as many as you like but just one song per band please

My top 3 are

1) Foo Fighters - Everlong
2) Stereophonics - Local Boy in the Photograph
3) RHCP - Under the Bridge

more favourites include

Manics Australia
Feeder Just the way I'm feeling
Dodgy Staying out for the summer
Pulp Common People
Ash Girl from Mars
Oasis Bring it on down
U2 New Years Day
GnR Paradise city
Depeche Mode Enjoy the silence
Deff Leppard Hysteria
Linkin Park In the end
Killers Mr Brightside
Los del Rio Macarena

The more I think about it there's hundreds more but that lot should do for now ;)

My number one and two would be the same, not sure about number three though.
Your additional list would definitely feature on my all time playlist too, in fact I think I'll set a few of them on now.

Although it’s always hard if not impossible to list only 3 songs, I think this should be limited to 3 favourites and possibly 3 ‘reserves’, otherwise this thread will be littered with long lists of songs (a la Darlo Pete’s example) that no one will be bothered to read.

So, my top of the pops are:

Ace of Spades – Motorhead
Heroes – David Bowie
Don’t Pretend – The Belles

Three close contenders:

54 46 Was My Number – Toots & The Maytals
All Your Love – John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers
Life in a Glasshouse – Radiohead

For me it all depends on my mood, when it comes to working on the night in Harvey's my favourite songs in there range from...

Kings of Tomorrow w/ Julie Mcknight - Finally
Tom Novy w/ Abigail Bailey - Runaway
Ian Carey - Rising
Marshall Jefferson -Move Ya Body
Louie Vega & Sinister Stealee w/ Julie Mcknight - Diamond Life
Dennis Ferrer - Hey Hey

...Always good songs to work too, because even if your like what I use to be where you say you hate dance/house music, the lyrics are too infectious not to sing along too.

When outside of work, although I still enjoy listening to the above, I tend to listen to more Rock...

3 Doors Down (Love all their albums, hard to whittle it down to just the one song but at a push I would say...) - Here Without You
Staind - So Far Away
Chris Daughtry - Feels Like Tonight
Shinedown - Call Me
Led Zeplin - Stairway to Heaven
Snow Patrol - Open Your Eyes

Its quite hard for to pick a top ten because I am open to all sorts of music, well...apart from cheesy pop...any track record made by one of these so called "artists" as well as these "artists" themselves deserve to all be thrown on a bonfire and set alight...obviously that would shag most of Pete's list, but oh well.

I couldn't possibly name 3 favourite songs ever, couldn't even narrow it down to 100.

My problem is I don't go to concerts, I don't have a collection of CD's that I listen to, I don't favour one genre over another, I'm not loyal to one band or group of bands - simply put, if I like the song I like it.

It can be dance, trance, garage, grunge, hip hop, rap, rock, pop, heavy metal you name it.

As an example, 10 songs I'm listening to on you tube at the moment are -

Dire Straits - Romeo and Juliet
Cola Boy - Seven Ways To Love
The Bangles - If She Knew What She Wants
The Adventures - Broken Land
Sugarcubes - Cold Sweat
Lovestation - Teardrops
The Gap Band - Big Fun
Bjork - Big Time Sensuality
The Adventures of Stevie V - Dirty Cash
Whitney Houston - I'm Your Baby Tonight

Basically songs just pop into my head all the time, usually from the mid 80's to the mid 90's and I'll go and reminisce - they usually remind me of different stuff that I was doing growing up.

Next week I'll be listening to completely different s***!

Three very close:

Mumford and Sons: Little lion man

Best song ever - You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling by The Righteous Brothers - FACT!!! :)

Anything with Paul Rodgers doing lead vocals
Anything with Steve Marriott doing lead vocals or playing guitar

And (like Quakerz) any other song or band that takes my fancy

And NOTHING by The Smiths - pretentious, moi?
