Re: Today's youth game
That's absolutely fantastic. Craig Liddle was saying before the game that Wigan were the strongest team left in the competition. I really hope the final is a two legged affair, as the kids really deserve playing in front of a decent home crowd. If the game isn't played at Darlo and Darlo aren't playing a League game, then I'm up for going to the final. I believe the other semi final involved Oldham, but I can't remember exactly who the other side was, for some reason Macclesfield springs to mind, but I may be wrong. I hope the youth team can be paraded to the half-time crowd at one of our up coming home games, they deserve it.

Well I'm sure a lot more will turn up than the usual 100 we get for the rare home youth cup games.

This is fantastic result for the youngsters.
Just look at who they have beaten in getting so far - and we are not even a League Club any more !!.
Lidds has done an amazing job and I would hope that all the rest of Darlo supporters send messages of congratulations and support to the Youth set up.

Our youth set must be better than Tottenhams!

Final 16th April ...same day as first team away @ H & Y
Re: Today's youth game
The next round v Oldham is a regional final, if we win that then we progress to the absolute final v a southern team.
To get as far as we have is a fantastic achievement, even though premiership teams apart from Wigan & Blackpool don't have youth teams in this cup, we've still done better than most of the league one and two teams and a handful of championship clubs
I'd love to see a reserve team which some of these lads could progress into. I've always been impressed by Jordan Marshall and if we didn't have so many striking options surely he'd be on the fringes. Lambert & Hopson certainly look to have some decent potential.
It's testament to the job not just Lidds has done but the whole youth set up who I believe have merged with Kev Stonehouse's FITC to attract some really decent players to join under the noses of some big local clubs with renowned set ups in Boro & Sunderland

Re: Today's youth game
Right well I was never going to Hayes & Yeading, so looks like I'll be going to the final wherever that is taking place.
Re: Today's youth game

Totally agree Pete, Lidds is doing a fantastic job, really hope we can hang onto him.I too will be up for the final if we get there but will be at the Arena for the home leg against Oldham.Darlo_Pete wrote:That's absolutely fantastic. Re: Today's youth game
It wouldn't surprise me if Lidds was head hunted by a bigger club - not sure where we would stand for compensation if that did happen.
We definately need a reserve team to offer those players a step up

Ian - Ali B gave your facebook message an airing towards the end of the programme - so Greater Darlington may be slightly more aware of YT success1Superlidds wrote:
