Hartlepool avoid punishment

Post by BlackandwhiteBOB » Thu May 06, 2010 1:41 pm

According to the echo no points deduction will be enforced, a fine and 1 game ban for Gary Liddle is the full extent of the punishment dished out.

I think the FA have bottled it a bit personally. Because the outcome of this could have an effect on who stays up / goes down. They've taken the easy way out and just given them a fine.

As others have said elsewhere - the 3 points should have been taken off them and a fine handed out.

The best case scenario for them should be they have to replay the fixture with Brighton. This is disgusting.

fully expect tranmere to win at stockport, and huddersfield will be fielding a weakened team ahead of the playoffs so its there for exeter to win, come on brentford!!

No they won't. Unless they want to play away at Leeds or Millwall in the second leg of the play offs.

Whats greater, the desire to avoid relegation or the desire to improve an already confirmed playoff position? Unlike the other teams in the playoff Huddersfield have no chance to sneak into 2nd, they most certainly be risking their best players ahead of an incredibly tough semi finals which will be equally tough no matter who they play. All of the teams in the playoff/2nd place argument have been inconsistant of late.

Its still unlikely that all the events will conspire to send Pools down, but it is a possibility, which it wouldn't be if your manager wasn't really, really stupid.

Huddersfield are the form team of the division, if you had to hand pick a team for Exeter to be playing it would be them.

Form team, playing without the massive pressure that Exeter will be under.

I don't really care what the outcome is as long as Turner is removed from the club about three seconds after the final whistle.

Huddersfield won't field a weakened side, there's still an outside chance they might finish 2nd.

The only thing Exeter have going for them really is that they're at home.

Exeter aren't a bad side on home soil, if they were away it would of been a Terrier banker but I can see them getting something from the game.
Tranmere are fighting for their lives and I think they can do enough to see off Stockport, as for Brentford v Pools, well I can't really predict this one. Let's hope it sees Pools relegated ey

Not really. The only way is if Leeds lose, Charlton fail to win, Swindon and Millwall draw with eachother and Huddersfield win by 5 or more goals. That isn't an outside chance, thats 99.9% that it wont be happening. If you were the Huddersfield gaffer would you be killing your players to go out and try to put 6 past a team fighting for their lives who will fight for every ball and be as rough and ready as they can be all on the faint hope that a remarkably unlikely set of results will go in your favour elsewhere, or treat the game like the inconsequential affair that it is from Huddersfield's point of view, give a few of the subs a run out and focus on the playoffs...

I wonder if Darlo will be able to appeal against crashing out of the league with an embarrassingly small points tally? :silent:

DARL, if you were capable of reading you'd realise that it's been posted about the points deduction. Perhaps all that large red font has made you go blind.

DARL, I think you need to give in the sugary sweets you seem far to hyperactive considering it's so close to your bedtime. You don't need to tell me to check my facts. At the time of starting this thread the northern echo were running a story that stated Hartlepool had escaped any significant punishment, hence the link posted by trike.

Only then did it come to light that the echo were wrong and the points deduction became common knowledge.

If anyone needs to check their facts its you son, not me. Now jog on!

I find it amusing how a poolie actually took the time and effort to come over to OUR board to, lets face it, gloat about the lack of a points deduction, only to be WRONG shortly after.
